Pennsylvania Route 823 (PA 823) was a short-lived state highway in the western Pennsylvania county of McKean. PA 823 went northward from the community of Big Shanty along Big Shanty Road and Laffayette Avenue for 3.4 miles (5.5 km), terminating at an intersection with U.S. Route 219 (US 219) in nearby Lewis Run. The route was commissioned by the Department of Highways (now Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) in 1929 and was decommissioned in 1932.
PA 823 began at the community of Big Shanty. The route went northward then turned to the southeast just north of Big Shanty. The route intersected with Toothman Road, a dead-end highway, beyond which it became known as Big Shanty Road, named after the nearby borough. State Route 823 then curved to the northeast, making a gradual, smooth turn to the north. The route then intersected with Lineman Road, another nearby dead-end highway. From here, a set of railroad tracks parallelled nearby, following PA 823 for most of its length. After that, there was an intersection with Droney Road, which headed out to the paralleling railroad tracks. [1]
Just north of Droney Road, PA 823 continued northward into the limits of the borough of Lewis Run. The highway then headed to the northwest, changing its name to Laffayette Avenue. After crossing into Lewis Run, there was an intersection with an unnamed loop road and with Valley Hunt Road, a dead-end highway. The route then turned to the northeast, intersecting with a few more local roads, and terminated at an intersection with US 219 in the northern borough limits of Lewis Run. [1]
PA 823 was designated as a state route in 1929, a year after the mass commissioning of state traffic routes in Pennsylvania. The route served as a spur off US 219. [2] [3] The state route designation, however, did not last long, being decommissioned just three years after its assignment in 1932. [4] The route is now designated and signed by PennDOT as State Route 4001, which extended the state designation from Big Shanty down to nearby PA 59. [5]

Pennsylvania Route 171 is a 40.17-mile-long (64.65 km) north–south state highway located in northeast Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 6 Business in Carbondale. The northern terminus is officially at an intersection with US 11, 250 feet (76 m) to the west of Interstate 81 (I-81).
Pennsylvania Route 955 is a 3.80-mile-long (6.12 km) state highway that runs between PA 5 in Lawrence Park Township and U.S. Route 20 (US 20) in Harborcreek Township. PA 955 continues to travel away from PA 5 as Iroquois Avenue in a diagonal until it reaches Nagle Road, where it straightens out and runs parallel to US 20. The highway stays parallel until US 20 makes a sharp left turn and intersects with PA 955. The route was first signed in 1928 and widened from PA 5 to an intersection with Nagle Road with a grassy median between 1950 and 1958.
Pennsylvania Route 170 is an 11.65-mile-long (18.75 km) state highway located in Wayne County in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in Prompton. The northern terminus is at PA 670 near Mount Pleasant Township. The route was designated in 1928 by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways as a spur of PA 70, although did not intersect with PA 70. Route 70 was renumbered in 1961 to PA 171. It is currently one of three remaining spurs of PA 70, including PA 370 and PA 670.
Pennsylvania Route 239 (PA 239) is a 36.84-mile-long (59.29 km) state highway located in Luzerne, Columbia and Lycoming counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 93 in Nescopeck Township. The northern terminus is at PA 42 in North Mountain. The route heads north from PA 93 and parallels the Susquehanna River between Wapwallopen and Mocanaqua before crossing the river into Shickshinny and forming a concurrency with U.S. Route 11 (US 11). Past Shickshinny, PA 239 runs west through rural areas to Benton, where it has a concurrency with PA 487. The route continues northwest and crosses PA 118 before it reaches its northern terminus.
Pennsylvania Route 346 (PA 346) is a 34.177-mile (55.003 km) state highway located in Warren and McKean counties in Pennsylvania, United States The western terminus is at the New York state line in the Allegheny National Forest, where it becomes New York State Route 280 (NY 280). The eastern terminus is at an intersection with PA 446 in Eldred. The route is mostly a two-lane road that passes through rural areas in the northern part of McKean County. PA 346 passes through the city of Bradford, where it has a concurrency with the U.S. Route 219 (US 219) freeway.
Pennsylvania Route 415 is a 10.035-mile-long (16.150 km) state highway located in Luzerne and Wyoming counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 309 in Dallas while the northern terminus is at PA 29 near Harveys Lake in the community of Ruggles. A rare feature of this road is that the right-of-way splits in Harveys Lake, where the State Route 0415 alignment heads along the western side of Harveys Lake, while SR 1415 heads along the eastern side. The two routes merge several miles north.
Pennsylvania Route 112 (PA 112) was a 4+3⁄4-mile-long (7.6 km) state highway located in Delaware and Chester counties in Pennsylvania. Running along current day Cheyney Road, PA 112 began at an intersection with U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in Markham, headed northward, and terminated at an intersection with PA 926 in the community of Tanguy.
Pennsylvania Route 514 (PA 514) is a 10.66-mile-long (17.16 km) state highway located in Bradford County in Pennsylvania. The western terminus is at PA 14 in Troy Township near the borough of Troy. The eastern terminus is at PA 414 in Franklin Township. PA 514 is a two-lane undivided road that runs through rural areas in southwestern Bradford County. The route was designated in 1928 to run between PA 14 in Troy east to Granville Center along an unpaved road; the route was paved two years later. PA 514 was extended east to PA 414 in 1934.
Pennsylvania Route 546 is a 3.586-mile-long (5.771 km) state highway in the northernmost regions of McKean County, Pennsylvania. The route, known locally as Oil Valley Road, begins at an intersection with PA 346 in the community of Duke Center. The highway heads northward, through mountainous regions before crossing the state line and into New York.
Pennsylvania Route 549 is a 19.15-mile-long (30.82 km) state highway located in Tioga and Bradford counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in Richmond Township near Mansfield. The northern terminus is at PA 328 in Wells Township. PA 549 was first designated in 1928 onto the current alignment from Richmond Township and US 6 to an intersection with then-PA 826 in Wells Township. This was changed in 1941 to extend to the New York state line nearby, but was extended and truncated twice between 1946 and 1961. In 1961, it was truncated to its current alignment.

The northern terminus is the New York state line in Foster Township. The route continues as New York State Route 16 in Cattaugarus County.
Pennsylvania Route 664 is a 17.59-mile-long (28.31 km) state highway located in Clinton and Lycoming counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 120 in Lock Haven, while the northern terminus is at PA 44 on the Clinton-Lycoming county line in the community of Haneyville. The route passes through small communities, but does not intersect with any other legislated highways in the area.
Pennsylvania Route 669 (PA 669) is a 5.82-mile-long (9.37 km) state highway located in Somerset County in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at the Maryland state line in Elk Lick Township, where Maryland Route 669 and Springs Road cross the state line from U.S. Route 40 Alternate. The route heads along Springs Road and Ord Street through its rural and residential alignment. The northern terminus is at the intersection with US 219 in the borough of Salisbury. The route was designated in 1963, and a renumbered MD 417 was soon matched up over the state line in Maryland.
Pennsylvania Route 690 (PA 690) is a 12.53-mile-long (20.17 km) state highway located in Lackawanna and Wayne counties in Pennsylvania. The western terminus is at PA 502 in Spring Brook Township. The eastern terminus is at PA 590 in Salem Township. The route is a two-lane undivided road running through rural and some developed areas southeast of Scranton. From the western terminus, the route crosses PA 307 and has a partial interchange with Interstate 380 (I-380) before reaching Moscow, where it forms a brief concurrency with PA 435. From Moscow, PA 690 continues northeast to its terminus at PA 590 in Hollisterville. PA 690 was designated in 1928 between U.S. Route 611 in Moscow and PA 590 in Hollisterville. The route was extended west to PA 502 in the 1930s.
Pennsylvania Route 858 is a 16.465-mile-long (26.498 km) state highway located in Susquehanna County in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 706 in Rush Township. The northern terminus is the New York state line in Little Meadows. The route from there continues into Tioga County as County Route 41. The route was assigned in 1928, completed a year later, and has remained the same since, with an exception of its southern terminus changing designations from PA 67.
Pennsylvania Route 790 was a state highway in the county of Pike in Pennsylvania, USA. The highway's southern terminus was at State Route 290 south of Hemlock Grove. The highway progressed northward along Hemlock Grove Road, passing through Hemlock Grove and into Greentown, where it terminated at an intersection with State Route 507. The highway was assigned in 1930 and decommissioned in the 1946 removal of state highways.
Pennsylvania Route 963 was a 3.95-mile (6.36 km) long state highway located in Pike County. The route began at an intersection with U.S. Route 6 and U.S. Route 209 in the Borough of Matamoras, which is settled on the New York state line. PA 963 continued northward for the length of Mill Rift Road up to the community of Millrift, Pennsylvania, where the designation ended. The route was assigned in the 1928 numbering of state highways in the commonwealth and was decommissioned eighteen years later. The designation was later replaced by Pike County Quadrant Route 1017, which heads along the same alignment as PA 963. Geographically, PA 963 and current day 1017 are the easternmost state highways in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Route 287 is a 63.9-mile-long (102.8 km) state highway in the Tioga Valley of Pennsylvania, United States. Route 287 runs from an intersection with U.S. Route 220 in the community of Larrys Creek in Piatt Township, Lycoming County, north to an intersection with PA 49 just south of the New York state line in Lawrenceville, Tioga County. The route follows Larrys Creek through several isolated communities, including Salladasburg and English Center, before working its way towards Hoytville, where it meets PA 414. The route ends up in Wellsboro, where it meets US 6, and reaches Tioga.
Pennsylvania Route 405 (PA 405) is a 35.124-mile-long (56.527 km) state highway that runs in the north-central part of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of PA 61 in Sunbury. The route heads across the Susquehanna River to Northumberland and northward along the West Branch Susquehanna River through Milton, Watsontown and Muncy until entering Hughesville, where it terminates at an intersection with U.S. Route 220 (US 220).
Pennsylvania Route 958 is an 8.63-mile-long (13.89 km) state highway located in Warren County, Pennsylvania. The designation's southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in Pittsfield Township. The route heads through several small communities, including Lottsville, where it goes on a short concurrency with PA 957. The northern terminus is at the New York state line at Freehold Township, just east of Bear Lake. There, the route continues through New York as Chautauqua County Route 33 (CR 33). PA 958 was designated in 1928 as a connector from US 6 to the community of Wrightsville, where the designation terminated. The route was extended northward along its current alignment in 1936 and has remained unchanged since.
