Penny De Los Santos is a culinary photographer, a senior contributor to Saveur Magazine and co-authored or contributed to more than a dozen food and culture books. [1]

Early life

Santos was born in Germany to American parents. She moved to Texas, where she spent the rest of her adolescence. [1] She graduated from Texas A&M University with a major in Journalism. [2] In 1996, she earned a master's degree in Communications from Ohio University. [3] She was a staff photographer at the San Jose Mercury News.[ citation needed ]

Career

Since 2006, De Los Santos has been a senior contributing photographer for Saveur Magazine, traveling to more than 30 countries. In February 2009, De Los Santos launched a food blog, where she documents the food and culture in her travel destinations as well as her personal life. She regularly contributes to National Geographic, Sports Illustrated , Newsweek , Time, Latina and Texas Monthly . [4]

Personal life

De Los Santos is gay [5] and is based in New York City. [6] She is of Mexican heritage. [7]

Saveur is an online gourmet, food, wine, and travel magazine that publishes essays about various world cuisines. The publication was co-founded by Dorothy Kalins, Michael Grossman, Christopher Hirsheimer, and Colman Andrews. It was started by Meigher Communications in 1994. World Publications bought Saveur and Garden Design in 2000. World Publications was renamed Bonnier Corporation in 2007. In October 2020, Bonnier Corporation sold Saveur, along with several other publications, to venture equity group North Equity.

Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee is a Korean American writer, artist, photographer and chef. Lee is most known for her cookbooks and food writing. She was nominated for a James Beard award in 2006 and has won numerous other awards for her cookbooks. Lee has written for magazines, newspapers, and online publications. She also works as an artist in installation, photography, painting and drawing. Her work is displayed in many galleries and she created two public art pieces in California.

Colman Robert Hardy Andrews is an American writer and editor on food and wine. He is best known for his association with Saveur magazine, which he founded with Dorothy Kalins, Michael Grossman, and Christopher Hirsheimer in 1994 and where he served as editor-in-chief from 2001 until 2006. After resigning from the magazine in 2006, he became the restaurant columnist for Gourmet. In 2010, he helped launch a food and drink website, The Daily Meal, and served as its editorial director until mid-2018. He is now a senior editor specializing in food and travel for 24/7 Wall St. He is considered one of the world's foremost experts on Spanish cuisine, particularly that of the Catalonia region.

Prawn soup, also referred to as shrimp soup, is a soup dish prepared using freshwater or saltwater prawns as a primary ingredient. Several varieties of the dish exist in various areas of the world, including Penang prawn mee in Malaysia, Peruvian chupe de camarones, Thai kaeng som kung and Mexican caldo de camarones. Penny Wolin, also known as Penny Diane Wolin and Penny Wolin-Semple, is an American portrait photographer and a visual anthropologist. Maciej Dakowicz is a Polish street photographer, photojournalist and gallerist. He is from Białystok in North East Poland. Dakowicz is best known for his series of photographs of Cardiff night-life titled Cardiff after Dark. He and others set up and ran Third Floor Gallery in Cardiff and he was a member of the In-Public street photography collective.

<i>I Love Bacon!</i> Cookbook by Ben Fink

I Love Bacon! is a cookbook with over fifty recipes devoted to bacon and bacon dishes, many of them from celebrity chefs. The book was written by Jayne Rockmill and photography was provided by Ben Fink. Broken down into eight sections, the book covered how to make homemade bacon and moves onto "brunch" and "small bites" before covering soups, salads and sides, pasta, fish, meat, and desserts. I Love Bacon! was published in October 2010 by Andrews McMeel Publishing and met with favorable reviews for its unique dishes and helpful culinary tips for novices.

Stella Parks is an American pastry chef and food writer based in Kentucky. She has worked in various Lexington-area restaurants, notably Table 310, and was a longtime contributor to Serious Eats. Parks received a James Beard Foundation Award in 2018 for her bestselling cookbook BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts.

The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize culinary professionals in the United States. The awards recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists each year, and are generally scheduled around James Beard's May birthday.
