Perception Becomes Reality is Sledgeback's second full-length album. The sound of the album is general punk rock.
Originally released in 2006 by Sliver records in the United States, the Dutch label Rebellion Records released a European version of the album on compact disc and vinyl formats in 2007.
There was one music video recorded for this album for the song "Werewolf Love" [1] in 2006. The video was directed by Arthur Reynolds.
"My life" and "Wonderland" were released on the split album Reality Bites with the UK punk band Foreign Legion in 2010 by Sliver Records. "Wonderland" was also released on the We Are the Underground compilation published by Rebellion Records in 2007. "My Life" was released on Punks and Pints" compilation (796873053747) by Sliver Records in 2006.

Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and read the stories of as children. Their lineup had remained unchanged for eleven years since December 2001, consisting of lead vocalist Shane Told, lead guitarist Neil Boshart, rhythm guitarist Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler. In September 2012, the band had announced that Neil Boshart had been fired and would be replaced by Paul Marc Rousseau, who also joined Billy Hamilton on backing vocals. The band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering the Waterfront, which was nominated for a Juno Award and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums charting at similar positions. Silverstein has sold over 1,000,000 albums worldwide.
Matchbook Romance was an American Emo band from Poughkeepsie, New York and was formed in 1997. They were signed to Epitaph Records. They released two full-length albums and one EP. Their EP, West for Wishing, released in 2003 was their first recorded album during their time on Epitaph; their full-length debut album, Stories and Alibis, was recorded in the same year.

Sledgeback is a Seattle, Washington-based punk rock band, formed in early 2004, with Hungarian born American guitarist Gábor Szakácsi as the front man. Former member of the long-standing influential Hungarian punk rock outfit C.A.F.B., "Gabi Hun" moved to Seattle not knowing a word of English, and soon after formed Sledgeback.

The 4-Skins are an English working class Oi! band from the East End of London, England. Originally composed of Gary Hodges (vocals), 'Hoxton' Tom McCourt (guitar), Steve 'H' Hamer (bass) and Gary Hitchcock (drums), they formed in 1979 and disbanded in 1984 – although new line-ups formed in 2007 and 2008. Many of their songs dealt with violent topics, but the band has claimed they were discussing the realities of inner city life, not promoting violence. Other 4-Skins song topics include police harassment, political corruption, war and unemployment.

Gábor Szakácsi is a Hungarian-born American rock guitarist and music producer, best known as the frontman of Seattle punk group Sledgeback. He fronted C.A.F.B., one of the most influential Hungarian punk bands of the 1990s, with whom he released six full-length albums between 1993 and 2017. After leaving Hungary Hun started Sledgeback in 2004 and released several albums with the group. His distinct voice became the trademark of Sledgeback.

Guy Lacey is an American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his work with Seattle grunge rock band War babies in the 1990s and with American punk rock outfit Sledgeback in the 2000s.He has recorded the one and only album of War babies, released on Columbia records in 1992 including the song "In the Wind" which features in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the forerunner to the later successful TV series. Lacey joined Sledgeback in 2006. His signature guitar style became an important part of Seattle punk rock stalwarts Sledgeback.

Championed by Radio 1 DJ John Peel, their most successful singles were 'Inside Out' and 'Goodbye My Love'.
