Perry G. Wall II (November 22,1867 - January 25,1944) was an American businessman and politician in Tampa,Florida.
He was the grandson of Judge Perry Green Wall,who had been a pioneer on Florida's west coast and then a judge in Hamilton County,Florida. [1] [2]
Wall lived in Spring Hill,Florida. [3] He studied at East Florida Seminary in Gainesville,Florida,and Bingham Military School in Asheville,North Carolina. [2]
He was a partner in the Knight &Wall hardware business with Henry Laurens Knight in Tampa. [4] The two men founded the business in 1884. [4]
Wall was active in multiple civic and political groups with alliance to the Democratic Party. For two years beginning in 1897,he served on the Hillsborough County School Board. [5] He served on the Executive Committee of the white supremacist White Municipal Party [5] that effectively excluded African Americans from Tampa's mayoral elections for decades from 1910.
Wall was mayor of Tampa,Florida,from January 8,1924,until January 3,1928. [5] During his four-year term,Tampa experienced a building boom. Major projects under his leadership included the residential areas of Temple Terrace and Davis Island. [5] While construction had begun in his predecessor's term,the Gandy Bridge to St. Petersburg was opened while Wall was mayor;when constructed,this bridge was the longest automobile toll bridge in the world. [5] A 1926 photograph captured him at a baseball game while he was mayor. [6]
Following his mayoral stint,Wall was chairman of Florida's Committee on Taxation and Finance. He was then appointed as harbormaster in Tampa,serving from 1932 to 1936. [5]
Wall was married to Mattie Houston. Together they had two children. [5]
He died in Tampa on January 25,1944.

The Bingham Military School was the state of North Carolina's first military school,founded in 1826 by Capt. D. H. Bingham to provide more accessible training for military officers. The school opened its doors in January 1827,with Bingham as its superintendent and Capt. Patridge,who had served in the French Army,as its head instructor. The school relocated twice,first from Williamsborough to Littleton in 1829,and then later that year from Littleton to Oxford.

The Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System (THPL) is a public library system based in Hillsborough County,Florida. THPL is part of two larger library networks,the Tampa Bay Library Consortium,and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative which includes Temple Terrace Public Library in Temple Terrace,Florida,and Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City,Florida. There are 33 branches of the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. Services provided by the THPL include internet access,public meeting room spaces,interlibrary loans,a Bookmobile,a Cybermobile for Spanish speakers,technology classes,adult literacy programs,and downloadable eBooks. Drive-thru windows for returns and hold pick-ups are located at the Jimmie B. Keel and the Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Libraries. In 2017,THPL introduced the new HAAL Pass,which gives access to certain library resources to all students in the Hillsborough County Public Schools System. Students use their student ID number to use different online databases,borrow up to three physical items and read eBooks. The Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System is also a part of Hillsborough County government. On January 1,2018,the library cooperative became one of the largest in the country to go fine free. Overdue fees for borrowed materials were eliminated with the implementation of the "Just Bring It Back" initiative. In 2019 the cooperative received the FLA Library of the Year Award. Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library was recognized for its community focused initiatives as it "reorganized its staffing model and eliminated overdue fines,yielding $1 million in savings while increasing access to library resources and expanding opportunities for community engagement through unique,scalable programs."
Anthony P. Pizzo (1912-1994) was a well-respected local historian and businessman,and was internationally recognized for his attempts to preserve the Italian American and Cuban American heritage and history of Tampa,Florida,and in particular that of his home neighborhood of Ybor City. From 1982 until his death in 1994,Pizzo was the official historian of Hillsborough County,and is author of several histories,most of which celebrate the unusual multicultural makeup of early Tampa. Pizzo also served as chairman of the Hillsborough County Historical Commission from 1968 to 1980,where he oversaw and was responsible for over eighty historical markers in Tampa and Ybor City.
