Persatuan Belia Islam Nasional or PEMBINA, (In English for "National Islamic Youth Association") is a Malaysian Muslim youth organisation based in Kajang with branches in 30 states and 89 campus in Malaysia. PEMBINA was founded in 2006 and is registered under the Registrar Office Youth Societies [1] under Malaysia Ministry of Youth & Sports. PEMBINA serves as the student society of Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia, with the intention to provide a working platform for its youth members to enhance youth empowerment and activism. [2]

The majority of PEMBINA members are youths and students from local universities, abiding by the Malaysian University and University College Act (AUKU) which allows tertiary students to be members of legal NGOs. PEMBINA has grown into the fourth-largest Muslim youth organisation in Malaysia. [3] PEMBINA aims to generate pious but well-rounded and multi-talented youths able to contribute to the welfare of society and uphold rightful beliefs. The Islamic society’s activities cover a vast spectrum of areas, being dynamic and energetic as youths should be. This includes sports, arts, outdoor camps, hiking and mountain climbing, fashion exhibitions, while also highlighting Islamic knowledge classes, studies, seminars and conventions.


In 2019, PEMBINA organizes the HIMMAH [4] program that attended by almost 1000 youth and university students. The objectives of the program to highlight are the new model of student movement by the focus on the five main agenda which is Muslim identity, Intellectualism, Volunteerism, Graduate Employability and Student Survival.

Reformasi (Malaysia)

The Reformasi was a protest movement that began in September 1998 throughout Malaysia initiated by Anwar Ibrahim after his sacking as Deputy Prime Minister by the country's then-Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad in the same month. The massive movement, which occurred while the country hosted the Commonwealth Games, consisted of civil disobedience, demonstrations, sit-ins, rioting, occupations and online activism, involving thousands across Malaysia protesting against the Barisan Nasional (BN) government under the Mahathir Cabinet.

Abdul Hadi Awang Malaysian politician

Abdul Hadi bin Awang is a Malaysian politician who has been 7th President of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), an Islamic political party in Malaysia, since July 2002. He was the Menteri Besar of Terengganu from 1999 to 2004, and the state assemblyman for Ru Rendang. He is currently the Member of Parliament (MP) for Marang, both in Terengganu. At the international level, Hadi was appointed as Vice-President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.

Anwar Ibrahim Malaysian politician

Dato' Seri Haji Anwar bin Ibrahim is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 12th and 16th Leader of the Opposition since May 2020 and from August 2008 to March 2015, 2nd Chairman of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition since February 2020 and 2nd President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) since November 2018. He has also served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Port Dickson since October 2018. He was formerly Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia from 1993 to 1998.

Malaysia Youth and Students Democratic Movement

Malaysia Youth & Student Democratic Movement formed on 17 September 1998. The movement consists of a group of students from various universities who were responsible for presenting the effects of globalization on the youth and student movement in Malaysia. The presentation was in November 1998 where two conferences - Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Asia Pacific People’s Assembly (APPA) were organized around that issue of economic policy in the framework of globalization and human rights.

Kamarudin bin Jaffar is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Minister Saifuddin Abdullah since August 2021. He served his first term in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Hishammudin Hussein from March 2020 to August 2021 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bandar Tun Razak since May 2018. Malaysian Muslim Solidarity

Malaysian Muslim Solidarity is a Malaysian ultra-conservative Islamist non-government organisation (NGO). It was established in 1997 with the name Ikatan Siswazah Muslim Malaysia, which was later changed to present Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia in 2005.

Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa, is a Malay dominance non-governmental organisation (NGO) that was formed by Ibrahim Ali in the aftermath of the 2008 general election (GE12). This conservative, extreme-right, ethnic Malay organisation is led by its president Ibrahim Ali to influence the unity of Malaysian by refusing to accept any decoration of other ethnic group except Malay decoration. The group is reported to have a membership of 700,000.

Budiman Mohd Zohdi Malaysian politician

Budiman bin Mohd Zohdi is a Malaysian politician. He was the Selangor state legislative assemblyman (MLA) for the Sungai Panjang constituency (2013-2018) and was also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sungai Besar constituency (2016-2018) representing United Malay National Organization (UMNO), the main party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition (2016-2018).

The May Day Anti-GST Rally was a rally held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 1, 2014. The rally was organised by a coalition of 89 non-governmental organisations, including Oppressed People's Network, Parti Sosialis Malaysia, Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia, and Asalkan Bukan UMNO among others, and was supported by the opposition Pakatan Rakyat. The rally, which coincided with International Workers' Day, was held in response to the Malaysian government's plan to introduce the goods and services tax on April 1, 2015. The rally saw participants march from Kuala Lumpur City Centre and other rally points in the city to the eventual destination, Dataran Merdeka.

Amirudin Shari Menteri Besar of Selangor

Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 16th Menteri Besar of Selangor since June 2018 and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Tua since May 2018 and Batu Caves from March 2008 to May 2018. He also served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) from September 2014 to his promotion to Menteri Besar in June 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the state ruling but federal opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki 14th Youth Chief of the United Malays National Organisation

Asyraf Wajdi bin Dusuki is a Malaysian politician who has served as Youth Chief of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition which is aligned with the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, since June 2018. He served as the Senator as well as the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Islamic affairs in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Najib Razak and former Minister Jamil Khir Baharom from July 2015 to the defeat of BN in the 2018 general election in May 2018. He lost in both general elections contested under the banner of BN.

Muafakat Nasional Political party in Malaysia

The National Concord is a Malaysian political coalition that was formed between the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) against the then-ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition. The political cooperation between the two largest Malay-Muslim-based parties was officialised with the signing of the Piagam Muafakat Nasional. The five-point charter was signed by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah held at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur on 14 September 2019. Its main aim is to unite the Muslim community or Ummah for electoral purposes.

Datuk Haji Aliasgar Bin Haji Basri is a Malaysian politician currently living in Tuaran Sabah Malaysia. Aliasgar is an alumnus of Southern Illinois University.
