Peter Burling is a Democratic former member of the New Hampshire Senate,representing the 5th District since 2006.
Previously he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1988 through 1994,and 1996 through 2004. [1] [2]
Burling announced in May 2008 he would not be running for the Senate in 2008. However,he will serve as a member of the Democratic National Committee,as he was recently elected to a four-year term. [3]
Cynthia Jeanne Shaheen is an American politician and retired educator serving as the senior United States senator from New Hampshire,a seat she has held since January 2009. A member of the Democratic Party,she also served as the 78th governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003. Shaheen is the first woman elected as both a governor and a U.S. senator,and the first woman elected governor of New Hampshire.
The United States Senate election in New Hampshire was held on November 4,2008. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator John E. Sununu ran for re-election to a second term,but was defeated by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen in a rematch of the 2002 election. Shaheen's win marked the first time since 1972 that Democrats won this seat,and made her the first Democratic Senator elected from New Hampshire since John A. Durkin's victory in 1975.
David Gottesman is a former Democratic member of the New Hampshire Senate,representing the 12th District from 2004 to 2008. He was also the Democratic Whip in the New Hampshire Senate in 2008. Joseph A. Foster is an American politician who served as the 29th Attorney General of New Hampshire from 2013 to 2017. He was formerly a Democratic member of the New Hampshire Senate,representing the 13th district from 2002 until 2008 and served as the State Senate Majority Leader in 2007 and 2008. Previously he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 1994 through 1998. On April 17,2013,he was confirmed to the office of New Hampshire Attorney General. He took office on May 15,2013,succeeding Michael A. Delaney who decided not to seek reappointment by Governor Maggie Hassan at the end of his term,and instead took Foster's old position at his law firm. In 2013,Foster was described as a potential Congressional candidate.
