Philip C. Jimeno (born February 28, 1947, in Fairmont, West Virginia) is an American politician and was a long-serving member of the Maryland State Legislature as a Democrat.
He grew up in West Virginia and attended Fairmont State College. [1] He was married in 1969, and he and his wife Ramona moved to Brooklyn Park, Maryland in 1970. [1] He worked as a probation and parole officer in Baltimore and was involved in the local improvement association, the Roland Terrace Democratic Club and became president of the Greater Brooklyn Park Council. [1]
In 1978, he decided to run for a seat in the Maryland House. He won that election, and went on to represent District 31 in the Maryland State Legislature from 1985 until his retirement in 2007. [1] [2]
Mr. Jimeno claims lead sponsorship on more than 65 legislative bills and claims co-sponsorship of more than 200. One of his pieces of legislation was Maryland Senate Bill 305, known as Annie's Bill, which was passed in the early 1990s. It set a new standard for timely and compulsory blood-alcohol testing and toughened drunken driving laws, allowing for drivers' in accidents where a person was seriously injured or killed to be tested for alcohol at the time of the incident, rather than a day or so later.
In his election challenge in 2002, Mr. Jimeno won re-election with 62% of the vote against his Republican challenger, David K. Kyle, who received 38%. [3] [4]

Peter Van Rensselaer Franchot is an American politician who was the 33rd comptroller of Maryland. A member of the Democratic Party, Franchot served for 20 years in the Maryland House of Delegates representing Takoma Park and Silver Spring. He was elected comptroller in 2006, and was subsequently re-elected three times. Franchot unsuccessfully ran for governor of Maryland in 2022, placing third in the Democratic primary behind Tom Perez and Wes Moore.
George Clayton Edwards is an American politician who previously served as a member of the Maryland Senate from District 1.
Curtis Stovall Anderson is an American politician, lawyer and former broadcast journalist. He was first elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1983, was the chairman of the Baltimore City Delegation, and past chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. After serving 12 years, he was elected again in 2002, and served until his retirement in 2023. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1992 (Clinton) and 2008 (Obama).
Alexander Xavier Mooney is an American politician serving since 2015 as the U.S. representative from West Virginia's 2nd congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, he represented the 3rd district in the Maryland State Senate from 1999 to 2011 and is a former chair of the Maryland Republican Party. He is the first Hispanic person elected to Congress from West Virginia.
Bryan Warner Simonaire is an American politician who serves as a Maryland state senator representing District 31, which encompasses much of northern Anne Arundel County's Baltimore suburbs. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the minority leader of the Maryland Senate from 2020 to 2023.

The 2006 Maryland Senate elections were held on November 7, 2006, as part of the 2006 United States elections, including the 2006 Maryland gubernatorial election. All 47 of Maryland's state senators were up for reelection. Neither party netted seats, allowing Democrats to retain supermajority control of the chamber.
