Pia Nielsen is a retired female badminton player of Denmark.

Career

One of Europe's better all-around female players in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Nielsen played particularly well in the IBF's first three World Championships. She won a bronze medal at the 1977 World Championships in women's doubles with Inge Borgström, a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 1980 World Championships with Steen Fladberg, and a silver medal in mixed doubles with Fladberg in the 1983 Championships. Nielsen won several international titles on the European continent in each of badminton's three events; singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. She was a women's doubles bronze medalist at the 1978 European Championships with Inge Borgstrom when beaten by Nora Perry and Anne Statt of England in semifinals with 14–17, 11–15, [1] and a women's doubles silver medalist in the 1980 edition of that tournament with Kirsten Larsen. Qin Yiyuan is a Chinese former world level badminton player. Qin played internationally for China from the mid-1990s through the 2000 Summer Olympics, a period during which her fellow countrywomen Ge Fei and Gu Jun dominated international women's doubles play. Qin won women's doubles at the 1996 China Open, 1997 Thailand Open, 1998 Denmark Open with Tang Yongshu, and at the 1999 Thailand, French, and Denmark Opens, and 2000 Swiss Open with Gao Ling. She was a bronze medalist at the 1995 IBF World Championships and a silver medalist at the 1997 IBF World Championships with Tang Yongshu. She earned a bronze medal again at the 1999 edition of the tourney with Gao Ling. Qin also earned bronze medals for women's doubles at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics, the first with Tang Yongshu and the second with Gao. She was a member of Chinese teams which captured the Uber Cup in 1998 and 2000.

Sport in Denmark is diverse. The national sport is football with the most notable results being qualifying for the European Championships six times in a row (1984–2004) and winning the Championship in 1992. Other significant achievements include winning the Confederations Cup in 1995 and reaching the quarter final of the 1998 World Cup. Other popular sports include handball, esports, cycling, sailing sports, badminton, ice hockey, swimming, and recently also golf. A few youths also play basketball.

Steen Fladberg is a retired male badminton player from Denmark, noted for his speed of foot, who excelled during the 1980s. Though a strong international level singles player, his biggest achievements came in doubles.

Inge Borgström is a retired female badminton player of Denmark.

Carsten Mogensen is a former badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Mogensen was a former world number 1 in the BWF World ranking together with Mathias Boe.

Mathias Boe is a badminton player from Denmark. He was the gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, two time European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and the silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China.

Lena Frier Kristiansen is a badminton player from Denmark. In 2001, she won the silver and bronze medals at the European Junior Championships in the mixed team and doubles respectively. Partneres with Kamilla Rytter Juhl, they won the bronze medal the 2006 European Championships in the women's doubles event, and made it to the gold medal in 2008. They also competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, but was defeated in the first round by the Japanese pair Kumiko Ogura and Reiko Shiota in the rubber games.

Helle Nielsen is a Danish badminton player. In 1999, she won a silver and two bronzes at the European Junior Badminton Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in the girls doubles, mixed doubles and mixed team respectively. In 2008, she won the bronze medal at the European Championships in mixed doubles with Carsten Mogensen.

Zhao Yunlei is a mixed and women's doubles badminton player from China. She graduated with a BA from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the mixed and women's doubles categories in 2012. Zhao joins the ranks with nine other players with two Olympic gold medals, the highest number of gold medals won by any badminton player. Through her performance at the 2014 and 2015 BWF World Championships, she became the first player to win two consecutive gold medals in two consecutive BWF World Championships.

The BWF World Championships, formerly known as IBF World Championships, and also known as the World Badminton Championships, is a badminton tournament sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament is one of the most prestigious in badminton, offering the most ranking points, together with the Summer Olympics badminton tournaments which was first introduced in 1992. The winners of this tournament are also crowned as "World Champions" of the sport, and are awarded a gold medal.

Frederik Colberg is a Danish badminton player from Holbæk. He won his first international title at the 2010 Iceland International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Mette Poulsen. Colberg was part of the Danish junior team that won a bronze medal at the 2011 European Junior Championships. Teamed-up with Rasmus Fladberg, they manage to claimed the men's doubles title at the 2017 National Championships, and some international titles in the 2016 Yonex / K&D Graphics, 2017 Belgian, and Hungarian International tournaments; and also won the 2018 Spanish International partnered with Joachim Fischer Nielsen.
