Pierre-Luc Gagnon, commonly known by his initials, PLG (born May 2, 1980 in Boucherville, Quebec), is a Canadian professional skateboarder. [1]

Gagnon began skating in 1988, and entered his first competition in 1992.[ citation needed ]

A frequent participant in the X-Games, he has won nineteen medals (nine gold) in the Vert, Vert Double, Big Air and Vert Best Trick categories. He has also been victorious on the Dew Tour and in the Gravity Games, and was the winner of the vert division of the Maloof Money Cup with a wide array of technical flip tricks and spins including a nollie heelflip indy 540.[ citation needed ]

Gagnon won the Skateboard Vert at the AST China Invitational in Beijing in 2008. [2] He won his third successive X-Games gold medal and fifth overall, in 2010. [3] Shortly after, he won his second Maloof Money Cup skateboard vert competition. [4]

Gagnon is 5 feet 10 inches (178 cm) tall and weighs 168 pounds (76 kg). His sponsors include Darkstar skateboards, RDS clothing, Osiris Footwear, Electric visual, Monster energy drink, BOOM Headphones, Capix helmets and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. [5]

Gagnon was a part of the cast in a VH1 reality series titled The X-Life . [6]

The Maloof Money Cup was an annual skateboarding competition for amateur and professional skateboarders founded by Joe and Gavin Maloof of the Maloof family. The events were held in four cities: Costa Mesa, California in 2008, 2009, 2010; New York City in 2010 and 2011; Washington, D.C. in 2011, and in Kimberley, South Africa in 2011 and 2012. The aim of the competition was to raise awareness of skateboarding and to encourage participation in skateboarding events and activities. Organizers also aim to contribute new skateboarding infrastructure and boost retail activity in those areas where events are held.

The 1080 is a skateboarding trick that can be performed on a vertical skateboard ramp or on a mega ramp, in which the skateboarder makes three full revolutions while airborne. It was first completed successfully on a mega ramp in 2012 by American skateboarder Tom Schaar, and on a vert ramp in May 2020 by Brazilian skateboarder Gui Khury.

The Kimberley Diamond Cup was an annual skateboarding event held at the beginning of each Southern Hemisphere Spring in Kimberley, South Africa. The event featured the largest single-event prize purse in skateboarding - $100,000 for first prize in the Street competition - and is the largest skateboarding competition in Africa.

Vince Byron is an, Australian BMX rider. He wins 14 medals at X-Games and he will specialize in BMX Vert and Big Air.

Sam Beckett is a British professional skateboarder. In 2016, he became the first skateboarder from the United Kingdom to win Gold in the Summer X Games.
