The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad and commonly known as Antwerp 1920, were an international multi-sport event held in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium.
Pietro Paolo Mennea, nicknamed la Freccia del Sud, was an Italian sprinter and politician. He was most successful in the 200m event, winning a gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and setting a world record at 19.72 seconds in September 1979. This record stood for almost 17 years – the longest duration in the event history – and is still the European record. He is the only male sprinter who has qualified at four consecutive 200 metres Olympic finals: from 1972 to 1984.
Lesotho sent a delegation to compete in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany from 26 August to 11 September 1972. This was the African country's first time participating at the Olympic Games. Lesotho's delegation consisted of a single sprinter, Motsapi Moorosi. He competed in two events, being eliminated in the first round of the 100 meters, and advancing to the quarter-finals of the 200 meters.

Pietro Bianchi was an Italian gymnast who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics and in the 1920 Summer Olympics. He was born in Milan. He was part of the Italian team, which won the gold medal in the gymnastics men's team, European system event in 1912 as well as in 1920. In the individual all-around competition in 1912 he finished sixth. Additionally, he was a member of the Italian gymnastics team at the world championships in both 1911 and 1913 where his team won the bronze medal both times.
Pietro Figlioli is an Italian professional water polo player. He competed for Australia at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics and for Italy in 2012 and 2016 and won two medals for Italy. He also won the world title in 2011. In 2012 he received the Gold Collar of Sporting Merit from the Italian Olympic Committee.
Joseph Nicholas DePietro was an American bantamweight (56 kg) weightlifter. He won gold medals at the 1947 World Championships, 1948 Summer Olympics and 1951 Pan American Games. During his career DePietro set two world records, in 1947 and 1948, both in the press. DePietro had very short arms and body, so that the bar was barely clearing his head when he was lifting it.
Pietro Ubaldo Bianchi was an Italian weightlifter who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1920 he won the silver medal in the middleweight class.
