Pink Suit Blue Day is the debut album by Australian rock band Eurogliders, released in 1982. [1] [2] Their debut single, "Without You", was released in June and entered the top 40 of the Australian Kent Music Report singles chart. [3] A follow-up single, "Laughing Matter" in September did not chart. [3]

Background

Guitarist and singer, Bernie Lynch fronted (as Rip Torn) a new wave band, The Stockings, in Perth, Western Australia in the late 1970s. [1] He left in early 1980 to form Living Single with Crispin Akerman on guitar, Don Meharry on bass guitar, Guy Slingerland on drums and Amanda Vincent on keyboards. [2] [6] Lynch's domestic partner, UK-born vocalist, Grace Knight joined the group soon afterwards. By the end of 1981, drummer John Bennetts replaced Slingerland and the band changed their name to Eurogliders. [1] [2] [6] They were signed by manager, Brian Peacock, to their first recording and publishing contracts with Polygram. [1] They then recruited Melbourne bass player Geoff Rosenberg to replace Meharry.

In late 1981, Eurogliders traveled to the Philippines capital Manila, to record their first album, Pink Suit Blue Day, produced by Englishman Lem Lubin. It did not enter the top 50 of the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart. [1] [2] [3] [6] They released their first single, "Without You", in June which entered the top 40 on the Kent Music Report singles chart. [3] A follow-up single, "Laughing Matter" in September did not chart into the top 50. [3]

Wanted Man is a folk rock album by Paul Kelly and was originally released in July 1994. It was issued on Mushroom Records in Australia and was Kelly's first solo studio album after disbanding his previous group, The Messengers. Tracks 1–10 were recorded at three Los Angeles studios while tracks 11–13 were recorded in Melbourne. It was produced by Kelly, Randy Jacobs and David Bridie. The cover art for Wanted Man is a colophon rendering of Australia's legendary outlaw Ned Kelly as a guitarist and was painted by David Band.

Eurogliders are a band formed in 1980 in Perth, Western Australia, which included Grace Knight on vocals, Bernie Lynch on guitar and vocals, and Amanda Vincent on keyboards. In 1984, Eurogliders released an Australian top ten album, This Island, which spawned their No. 2 hit single, "Heaven ". "Heaven" also peaked at No. 21 on the United States Billboard Mainstream Rock charts and appeared on the Hot 100. Another Australian top ten album, Absolutely, followed in 1985, which provided two further local top ten singles, "We Will Together", and "Can't Wait to See You". They disbanded in 1989, with Knight having a successful career as a jazz singer. Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane described Eurogliders as "the accessible face of post-punk new wave music. The band's sophisticated brand of pop was traditional in its structure, but displayed the decidedly 'modern veneer' ". The band reformed in 2005 releasing two new albums followed in 2014 by their seventh album.

Alphabravocharliedeltaechofoxtrotgolf is the first album by Australian new wave group Models. The title alludes to the first seven letters of the NATO phonetic alphabet. The title also refers to the designations of the natural divisions in the 12-note Western music scale in the key of 'C'. The LP album cover claimed it was produced by no-one, in fact, it was recorded independently by engineer Tony Cohen and the group, prior to signing with Mushroom Records. It was released in November 1980, but no singles were released commercially from the album, although "Two People Per km²" and "Uncontrollable Boy" were on a 12-inch disc released to radio stations, and a music video was made for "Two People Per km²".

Grace Ethel Knight is an English-born Australian vocalist, saxophone player and songwriter. During the 1980s she was a mainstay of Indie pop group Eurogliders which formed in Perth, Western Australia. Knight later became a solo jazz singer and musician based in Sydney. In 1984, Eurogliders released an Australian top ten album, This Island, which spawned their No. 2 hit single, "Heaven ". "Heaven" also peaked at No. 21 on the United States' Billboard Mainstream Rock charts and appeared on the Hot 100. The song, written by Eurogliders' guitarist, Bernie Lynch, and vocals by Knight, was their only hit in United States. Knight and Lynch married in 1985 but separated soon after. Another Australian top ten album, Absolutely, followed for Eurogliders in 1985, which provided three further local top ten singles, "We Will Together", "The City of Soul" and "Can't Wait to See You".

Richard Arnold Pleasance is an Australian rock musician and producer. He was a founding member of Boom Crash Opera on guitar, bass guitar, vocals and as a songwriter in 1985; they released three albums before Pleasance left in 1992. Their hit Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles, "Great Wall" and "Onion Skin" were co-written by Pleasance, who also co-produced their second album, These Here Are Crazy Times. His debut solo release, Galleon received four nominations at the ARIA Music Awards for 1992. Pleasance composed the theme music for Australian television series, SeaChange (1998–2001), for 2006 feature film Kenny and more recently he composed the theme music for the prison drama series Wentworth. Pleasance is married to Michelle and, as from May 2009, he was living in Hepburn Springs, Victoria where he has a recording studio.

Roger Ashley Mason is an Australian keyboardist who has been a member of new wave groups Models, Absent Friends and Icehouse. He was a session and backing musician for United Kingdom's Gary Numan and for various Australian artists. From the early 1990s he has composed music for television and feature films.
