Pioneer Pacific College is a private for-profit college with its main campus in Beaverton, Oregon. Founded in 1981, it primarily offers Associate degrees and certificate programs.
Pioneer Pacific College began in 1981 as an electronics school in Corvallis, Oregon, named Skilltronics. [1] Founded by Irene and James Childers, the training school was moved to Wilsonville in 1983. [2] Pacific Education Corporation purchased Skilltronics in 1989 and changed the name to Pioneer Pacific College with accreditation coming in 1995. [1] Former Oregon legislator Kelly Clark co-owned the college in the early 1990s. [3]
In 1999, the college added a campus in Clackamas and the next year moved the main campus to a larger facility. [2] For the 2001 to 2002 academic year the school granted 108 associate degrees. [4] Pioneer Pacific started a criminal justice program in 2002 that offered an associate degree at its Wilsonville campus. [5] Also in 2002, the school established a campus in Lane County adjacent to the University of Oregon, [6] with the campus relocating the next year to Springfield. [7]
Bachelor's degrees were added in 2004, first with information technology and then others in 2005. [1] In 2004, the college added the Health Career Institute, followed by a culinary arts program in 2006. [2] For the 2005 to 2006 academic year the school's criminal justice program ranked 41st in the United States for most associate degrees granted in that field. [8] As of 2007, the school had 1,287 students with 250 graduating each year. [1] In 2012 Pioneer Pacific College was granted approval by the American Bar Associationton to offer the Bachelor of Science Degree in Legal Studies. 2014, In 2014 Springfield campus was granted preliminary approval by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCert) to offer its Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology program. In 2015, Beaverton learning site was opened and granted approval to begin classes from ACICS. [2]
The college announced plans to close its campuses in Portland, Beaverton, and Springfield as well as the Oregon Culinary Institute at the end of July 2020. The college already had plans to fire 131 faculty and staff members due to lowered enrollment it attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. [9] [10] [11]
Pioneer Pacific College has three campus locations in the Portland Metro and surrounding areas including Beaverton, and Springfield, in addition to a facility for culinary arts in downtown Portland. Pioneer Pacific's main campus is in Beaverton.The Beaverton, OR campus offers courses in legal studies and healthcare. The campus location was opened in August 2015 and granted approval by the ACICS. The Lane County campus is located in Springfield's Gateway District on Sports Way and is housed in a two-story building with 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of space. [7] The culinary arts program is taught at the Oregon Culinary Institute in Downtown Portland. The culinary school offers programs in Culinary Management Associate of Applied Science Degree, Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Management Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS), and Baking and Pastry Diploma. [12] Seventy-three percent of students attend full-time and the school employs 119 teachers, of which 41% are full-time faculty members. [13]
Pioneer Pacific College currently offers several degree and diploma programs in the healthcare, business, and legal fields. Online/Hybrid Courses are also available through an online platform. The school has been accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools since 1995. [14] [15]
Wilsonville is a city primarily in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. A portion of the northern section of the city is in Washington County. It was founded as Boones Landing because of the Boones Ferry which crossed the Willamette River at the location; the community became Wilsonville in 1880. The city was incorporated in 1969 with a population of approximately 1,000. The population was 13,991 at the 2000 census, and grew to 19,509 as of 2010. Slightly more than 90% of residents at the 2000 census were white, with Hispanics comprising the largest minority group.

The institution officially changed its name from Linfield College to Linfield University, effective July 1, 2020.

The Oregon Institute of Technology is a public polytechnic university in Oregon with a residential campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon, an urban campus in Wilsonville, Oregon, and additional locations in Salem and Seattle. Oregon Tech provides 32 degree programs in engineering, health technologies, management, communication, psychology, and applied sciences with a total of 37 majors. The Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is a private fine arts and design college in Portland, Oregon. Established in 1909, the art school grants bachelor of fine arts degrees and graduate degrees including the master of fine arts (MFA) and master of arts (MA) degrees. It has an enrollment of about 500 students. PNCA actively participates in Portland's cultural life through a public program of exhibitions, lectures, and internationally recognized visual artists, designers, and creative thinkers.
Clackamas Community College (CCC) is a public community college in Oregon City, Oregon. Founded in 1966, it is one of the largest community colleges in the state of Oregon. Clackamas Community College offers courses at three campuses: the central campus in Oregon City, Harmony Community Campus in Clackamas, and the Wilsonville campus. Extension sites are also located in the towns of Canby and Molalla, where CCC offers English as a Second Language, GED in Spanish, computer science and community education classes. CCC is also the only college to offer an urban agriculture certificate in the state of Oregon.
WES Commuter Rail is a commuter rail line serving part of the Portland metropolitan area's Washington County in Oregon, United States. Owned by TriMet and operated by Portland & Western Railroad (P&W), the line is 14.7 miles (23.7 km) long and consists of five stations. WES travels north–south just west of Oregon Highway 217 and Interstate 5 (I-5) between the cities of Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, and Wilsonville. It connects with MAX Light Rail at Beaverton Transit Center. Service operates on a 30-minute headway on weekdays during the morning and evening rush hours. It carried an average of 1,590 passengers in May 2018.
The Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Portland, formerly the Western Culinary Institute (WCI), was a culinary school located in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. The school was owned by the Career Education Corporation and it was also a partner with the French culinary institute Le Cordon Bleu. As of 2006, the school had an enrollment of 805 students. The school became affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu in 1999 and changed its name from the Western Culinary Institute in January 2010.
Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) is a private college in Portland, Oregon focused on graduate degrees in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. OCOM's programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and authorized by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission's Office of Degree Authorization to award Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degrees.
Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) was a private art college in Portland, Oregon. The college granted Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees as well as art-focused certificates. The college offered an Artist-in-Residence program and provided continuing education in the arts to the local community. It was founded by Julia Christiansen Hoffman, a photographer, painter, sculptor, metal worker and weaver, out of her desire to foster the Arts and Crafts movement through classes and exhibitions. The college closed at the end of the spring 2019 semester.
Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Minneapolis/Saint Paul was founded in 1999. The college is owned by Career Education Corporation under a licensing agreement with Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Located in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, the school offers Associate in Applied Science degrees in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts and Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie & Baking and a Certificate Program in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts. All US Le Cordon Bleu College locations are scheduled to close in 2017.
Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts is a culinary school with campuses in Boulder, Colorado, Austin, Texas and online. The school offers culinary arts, pastry arts, and plant-based programs. It is named after Auguste Escoffier, the renowned French chef who is hailed as the father of modern haute cuisine, and owned by Triumph Higher Education group.
Oregon Culinary Institute (OCI) was a privately owned, for-profit, accredited trade school located in Portland, Oregon, United States. Part of the Pioneer Pacific College system, it offers programs in culinary arts, baking and pastry, and restaurant management, with a curriculum to prepare graduates for the food-service industry. OCI's campus is located in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of southwest Portland, and includes a restaurant staffed by students. Their slogan is "Training Kitchen People".
YTI Career Institute is a private for-profit career college with campuses in Altoona, Lancaster, and York, Pennsylvania. It was established in 1967 and serves a population of approximately 1750 students. YTI Career Institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
Oregon Center for Advanced Technology Education (OCATE) was a school in Hillsboro, Oregon, created by the state of Oregon to improve technology education. Established in 1985, the program was a collaboration of most of Oregon’s public universities. OCATE later was absorbed by Portland State University and discontinued in 2006.

It is an urban, industry-focused campus, in the heart of the Silicon Forest located in the same vicinity as Silicon Forest technology companies such as Mentor Graphics, Rockwell Collins, FLIR, Microsoft, Xerox, Convergence, Tektronix and DWFritz.
