Pleasant Glade, originally Needmore, is a ghost town in Van Zandt County, Texas, United States.
Originally known as Needmore, Pleasant Glade began as a farming community, and had a country store named Phalba. A school was built in 1909, replacing an 1890 schoolhouse, and consolidated with the Canton Independent School District in 1950. Two tornados damaged the comminity—one in 1924, the other in 1927. Most residents moved during World War II, and the town was a ranching community by the 1990s. [1] [2]

Missouri Pacific Railroad in the center of the historic fruit-growing district of the Sabine River valley in northeastern Van Zandt County. Its name was originally Bolen Switch, but it was changed around 1901 after a petition of local fruit growers, and a post office was established in 1903. On April 29, 2017, an EF-3 tornado struck the town at EF-2 intensity, causing major damage and several injuries. Fruitvale Independent School District serves the town for head start to 12th grade.

The city is located roughly 75 miles (120 km) east of Dallas and 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Tyler, the two nearest metropolitan areas, and is part of the greater Tyler/Longview area.

The United States of America was formed after thirteen British colonies in North America declared independence from the British Empire on July 4, 1776. In the Lee Resolution, passed by the Second Continental Congress two days prior, the colonies resolved that they were free and independent states. The union was formalized in the Articles of Confederation, which came into force on March 1, 1781, after being ratified by all 13 states. Their independence was recognized by Great Britain in the Treaty of Paris of 1783, which concluded the American Revolutionary War. This effectively doubled the size of the colonies, now able to stretch west past the Proclamation Line to the Mississippi River. This land was organized into territories and then states, though there remained some conflict with the sea-to-sea grants claimed by some of the original colonies. In time, these grants were ceded to the federal government.

Corinth is a ghost town in Van Zandt County, Texas, United States. Corinth was located on Farm to Market Road 1255, 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Canton. From 1848 to 1873, Corinth was a stagecoach stop between Marshall and Dallas. The first school opened in 1849. In 1888, a post office opened in the community under the name Hatton. After the post office closed in 1906, the community was renamed Corinth. Corinth had a school from 1890 to 1940. In 1940, the school was consolidated with the Grand Saline Independent School District. By 1981, all that remained of the community was its church, its cemetery, and some scattered homes.
Pleasant Grove is a rural farming unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas, United States. It is located six miles from Lovelady off State Highway 19. It was established after the Civil War. A school was built in 1857. By the 1990s, the town was dispersed, although the church with several members still remains.
