Popovci (pronounced [ˈpoːpɔu̯tsi] ) is a settlement south of Ptuj in the Municipality of Videm in eastern Slovenia. It extends from the left bank of the Dravinja River to the right bank of the Polskava. The area traditionally belonged to the Styria region. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region. [2]
Ptuj is a town in northeastern Slovenia that is the seat of the Municipality of Ptuj. Ptuj, the oldest recorded city in Slovenia, has been inhabited since the late Stone Age and developed from a Roman military fort. Ptuj was located at a strategically important crossing of the Drava River, along a prehistoric trade route between the Baltic Sea and the Adriatic. Traditionally the area was part of the Styria region and became part of the Austria-Hungarian Empire. In the early 20th century the majority of the residents were ethnic Germans, but today the population is largely Slovene. Residents of Ptuj are known as Ptujčani in Slovene.
The Municipality of Videm is a municipality in Slovenia. It includes part of the flatlands south of Ptuj and extends beyond the Dravinja River into the Haloze Hills to the south. The area traditionally belonged to the region of Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the settlement of Videm pri Ptuju.
