Port of Sorong is a seaport in western New Guinea. This port contains both passenger and container terminal linking the Bird's Head Peninsula with other regions of Indonesia. [1] [2] This port is located at Sudirman Road, Sorong District, in Sorong and operated by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV. [3]

Port of Depapre is an under-construction container and bulk cargo seaport in Jayapura Regency, Papua, Indonesia. The port located in Tanahmerah Bay, directly facing the Pacific Ocean in the north. The port is being planned to replace the old Port of Jayapura, located 30 km to the east. The port is also located about 27 km west of Sentani, the regencial capital of Jayapura Regency, and 60 km west of Jayapura, the provincial capital of Papua.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019 North Maluku earthquake</span> July 7, 2019, earthquakes in Indonesia

The 2019 North Maluku earthquake, a shallow 7.2 magnitude earthquake, struck the island of Halmahera, North Maluku, Indonesia on 14 July 2019 at 18:10 local time with its epicentre located at South Halmahera. It struck at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) near Labuha, a small port town located in Bacan Island. The earthquake produced a non-destructive 20 cm tsunami, which struck Labuha just minutes after the shaking started. 14 people were killed by the earthquake while 129 people were injured, and more than 50,000 people were displaced. The earthquake inflicted a total damage of Rp 238 billion.

The Port of Tanjung Api-Api is a seaport in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Completed in 2007, it began passenger ferry operations to Muntok in 2013, and cargo operations in 2019.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Southwest Papua</span> Province with special status

Southwest Papua is a province of Indonesia, and is a fraction of Western New Guinea. Despite being named southwest, it is a misnomer and this province is actually located in the northwest edge of Papua. The area that belongs to this province includes the Greater Sorong area which consists of Sorong City, Sorong Regency, South Sorong Regency, Maybrat Regency, Tambrauw Regency, and Raja Ampat Regency. The Draft Law (RUU) on the Establishment of the Southwest Papua Province has been passed into law and becomes the 38th province in Indonesia.
