Kaunas is the second-largest city in Lithuania after Vilnius and an important centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. Kaunas was the largest city and the centre of a county in the Duchy of Trakai of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Trakai Palatinate since 1413. In the Russian Empire, it was the capital of the Kaunas Governorate from 1843 to 1915.
Kurier Wileński is the main Polish-language newspaper in Lithuania. Printed in Vilnius, it is the only Polish-language daily newspaper published east of Poland. A direct descendant of both the 19th-century newspaper of the same name and the Czerwony Sztandar newspaper, created by the Soviet authorities in 1953 as a means of Sovietization of the Polish diaspora left in the Polish areas annexed by the Soviet Union. The newspaper is a member of the European Association of Daily Newspapers in Minority and Regional Languages (MIDAS). According to TNS Gallup media research, Kurier Wileński 36,800 people or 1.4% of Lithuania's population read at least one issue out of the last six in summer 2008, but that measure dropped to 0.3% in spring 2010.
Šalčininkai District Municipality is one of 60 district municipalities in Lithuania. The municipality is part of the Vilnius County and is located in southeastern Lithuania, next to the Belarus–Lithuania border. The south-eastern border of the municipality with Belarus includes a distinctive salient of Lithuanian territory, known as the Dieveniškės appendix, almost completely surrounded by Belarus.

Žaliakalnis Funicular is a funicular railway in Kaunas, Lithuania. Built in 1931, it is the oldest funicular in Lithuania and is among the oldest vehicles of such type in the world still operational. The funicular is made of a wood-paneled coachwork and climbs 142 metres (466 ft) up from behind the Vytautas the Great War Museum to the Basilica of the Resurrection.
AB Stumbras is the oldest and largest producer of strong alcoholic drinks in Kaunas, Lithuania. The company began operations in 1906. It is also the largest exporter of strong alcoholic beverages and one of the biggest taxpayers in Lithuania. The company's most famous brands include "Lithuanian vodka" (vodka), "999" (bitter), "Gloria" (brandy), "Stumbro Starka" (bitter), "Krupnikas" (liqueur) and "Poema" (liqueur). The company name translates as Wisent.
Before the independence from the Soviet Union (USSR) in 1990, Lithuanian print media sector served mainly as a propaganda instrument of the Communist Party of Lithuania (LKP). Alternative and uncontrolled press began to appear in the country starting from 1988, when the Initiative Group of the Reform Movement of Lithuania Sąjūdis was established. After the declaration of independence the government stopped interfering in the media outlets which for the most part were first privatised to their journalists and employees and later to local businessman and companies. Currently media ownership in Lithuania is concentrated among a small number of domestic and foreign companies.
CIJK-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 89.3 FM in New Minas, Nova Scotia owned by Stingray Group. The station currently broadcasts a classic hits format branded as Rewind 89.3. The station is one of several new radio stations approved in 2007 for the Atlantic Provinces.
Vilnius Airport Railway Station is a railway station in Vilnius International Airport, Lithuania, which was opened on 2 October 2008. As for 2019, railbuses running between Vilnius Airport and Vilnius Central Station are the only passenger service of the station and are the fastest and the cheapest (€0.80) way to go from the airport to the city centre, but there are only 7 trains during the day with intervals from 30 min to 5 h 45 min. Vilnius airport is one of the two airports in the Baltic states to have a direct rail connection with the city centre (the other one being Tallinn Airport, which since September 2017 has a direct tram connection to Tallinn downtown.

Achema is the largest fertilizer producer in the Baltic states. It is headquartered in Jonava, central Lithuania. Its factory is located in the village of Jonalaukis by Jonava, near the confluence of rivers Neris and Šventoji. In 2011, Achema employed about 1700 workers and reached 2.2 billion Litas revenues, net profit was 96.3 million Litas.
Former Communications History Museum was a museum supported by Teo LT AB, former AB Lietuvos Telekomas, in the Old Town of Kaunas, Lithuania. The building is an old merchant house, where were storages for grain to be exported. The building was taken in the use of the communications from 1830s in a form of the horse post and an inn according to the project by Joseph Poussier. It was one of the largest post stations in Europe. In the end of the 19th century Kaunas City Museum was situated in the building too.
M-1 is the first commercial radio station in Lithuania, broadcasting from the capital city of Vilnius. The station was established on 31 December 1989 by Hubertas Grušnys.
Liubavas Manor is located in Liubavas, in the northern part of Vilnius, in a picturesque area by the River Žalesa. Till our days there are 11 buildings, a system of terrace ponds and plantation in Liubavas manor homestead left. Under the initiative of sculptor Gintaras Karosas, Liubavas Manor Museum was established in 2011. In 2016 the 18th century Liubavas Manor Baroque architectural ensemble – officine (treasure) and orangery was restored and adapted to the museum. In 2018 the manor house bridge with a section of stone boulders was restored. The stone paved road of Liubavas manor leads from Bireliai to Liubavas manor. In 2012 Liubavas Manor Watermill Museum has been awarded the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Award as an excellent example of a fine and sophisticated restoration. The Museum of History, Cultural and Technical Heritage of Liubavas Manor is open on weekends from April 15 to October 15.
Vilnius Intermodal Terminal is a first railway dry port in Vilnius, Lithuania. Terminal is located next to the Vaidotai railway station. The project was carried out by Lithuanian Railways, making use of support from the EU Cohesion Fund. This project worked to achieve one of the most important goals of the EU and Lithuania: to reduce roadway usage and transfer a large part of the burden of cargo transportation to railways.
