Poybo Media Group Ltd. (simply known as Poybo Media) is a social media digital content company based in Vancouver, Canada. [2] Founded in 2020 by Justin Jin, [3] it is a high-volume producer of short-form videos. It was cited as the largest media company in the world led by teenagers. [4] [5]

History

50mMidas Media, the predecessor to Poybo Media, was started by Justin Jin on May 2, 2020, in Vancouver, Canada. [6] The site originally consisted solely of his YouTube channel, which posted Minecraft-related videos. [4] [7] As of 2024, Jin is the CEO of the company. [8]

In 2021, [9] the company started more accounts on social media websites including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. [10] [11] This included The Celebrity Observer, a programme that produces celebrity news and commentary, which peaked at #38 for the most viewed YouTube channels weekly in the United States. [4] [12]

In 2024, the company formed a subsidiary in Africa. [2]

Criticism

The company has been criticized for posting content that mostly appeal to men.[ citation needed ]
