Prabhakar Kore is an Indian politician and former a member of Rajya Sabha from Karnataka. [1] He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is the chairman of the Karnatak Lingayat Education Society,Belagavi which runs over 280 institutions that provide education and healthcare in Karnataka and Maharashtra,India. He is also the Chancellor of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER),Belagavi and KLE Technological University,Hubballi.
Kore is a multi-faceted personality with significant contributions in education,agriculture,healthcare,the cooperative sector,politics and community welfare - making a mark on the state,national &international scenario. He was three times member of parliament Rajyasabha 1990–1996,2008-2014 &2014–2020. He has also served as member of parliamentary committees for Ministry of Defense,Human resource development,Health and Family welfare,Consultative committee,Education,Railway and many more. Vinayaka Krishna Gokak,abbreviated in Kannada as Vi. Kru. Gokak,was an Indian writer in the Kannada language and a scholar of English and Kannada literatures. He was the fifth writer to be honoured with the Jnanpith Award in 1990 for Kannada language,for his epic Bharatha Sindhu Rashmi. Bharatha Sindhu Rashmi deals with the Vedic age and is perhaps the longest epic narrative in any language in the 20th century. In 1961,Gokak was awarded the Padma Shri from the Government of India for Dyava Prithvi.

On 13 November 1916,KLE Society started an Anglo Vernacular School in Belagavi. Lingaraj College came into existence in June 1933. In 1947,B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology was started in Hubballi. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Belagavi and Gudleppa Hallikeri College at Haveri were started in 1963. KLE also runs the KLE engineering college in Belagavi,established in 1979. From 1984 onwards,KLE Society started dental,education,nursing,information technology,computer applications,hotel management,business management,tourism,fashion design,and agriculture colleges,as well as polytechnics across India. Devegowda Javaregowda,known as De Ja Gou or simply Javaregowda,was an Indian Kannada writer,folklorist,researcher,scholar and academic. He was disciple of authors T.N. Srikantaiah and Kuvempu. His literary career spans over decades in which he wrote over thirty-four biographies in Kannada language and other works including children's literature. He campaigned for the promotion of Kannada language. He had received Pampa Prashasti (1998),Padma Shri (2001) and the Karnataka Ratna (2008) awards for his contributions in literature and education. He became a centenarian in 2015 and died on 30 May 2016.

Dr. Manu Baligar is an Indian Kannada writer,author,playwright,former civil servant and the current president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. He hails from Shigli in Gadag district,and is the elder brother of V. P. Baligar,a retired Indian Administrative Service officer and former chairman of Housing and Urban Development Corporation. He was a civil servant in the Karnataka Administrative Service,and retired as the commissioner of Department of Kannada and Culture,Government of Karnataka. He was elected the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat,an apex body for the promotion of Kannada language,on 3 March 2016 for a term of three years which was later legally extended to five years. He has been conferred with many coveted honors including the highly prestigious Nadoja Award by the Hampi University in 2019 and also an honorary doctorate for literature from Karnataka University Dharwad. Also,he has been conferred with two gold medals for his exemplary work on IRDP during his career as a civil servant.
Vidushi Shashikala Dani is an Indian Hindustani classical Jal tarang artist. She is one among the few musicians and presently the only All India Radio-graded female exponent of the Jal tarang. She is a multi-instrument artist with concert and teaching experience in Jal tarang,Harmonium,Sitar,Violin,Dilruba and Tabla. She is also an All India Radio-graded vocalist in the Gamaka genre of Hindustani Light Music.
Raja Lakhamagouda Sardesai (1864–1942) was an Indian philanthropist,first Barrister-at-Law from Karnataka and a ruler of Vantamuri princely state in Belagavi district. He was the 16th ruler of Vantamuri princely state. He ascended the throne at the age of 13 years in 1877. The princely state had a Wada at Vantamuri which was built by Prabhu Basavantrao and it was submerged in 1978-79 when a dam was constructed at Hidkal.
