Pranab Kumar Aich is an Indian filmmaker and photographer from Odisha, India. He is the winner of the Sony World Photography Award in 2009 held in Cannes for his work on the environment. [1] [2] [3] He is known for his multiple award-winning short documentary City's Step Child, [4] [5] Manayun My Wonderland, [6] and Torch. [6] His debut Odia feature film Nanda Master’nka Chatasali was nominated in Asian Select (NETPAC Award) in 29th Kolkata International Film Festival, 2023. [7] [8]

Education

Pranab studied Post Graduate Diploma in Photography and Visual Communication from A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. [9] [10]

Career

He started his career in New Delhi working as a volunteer for NGOs like Goonj, American India Foundation and Manzil to gain an in-depth understanding of humanitarian issues. Later, he produced audio visual content on international developmental issues for NGOs. [6] [11] He enrolled for Post Graduate Diploma in Photography and Visual Communication from A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. In 2009, while studying in AJKMCRC, he became the first Indian Student to win Sony World Photography Award held in Cannes where he was trained by legends in documentary photography like Mary Allen Mark, Susan Welchman, Adrian Evens. [12] He was recently invited to Busan International Film Festival, 2024 to participate in Platform Busan, a sidebar of the festival, which host emerging talented filmmakers from around the world. His short documentary films, Manayun: My Wonderland and Torch won the prestigious 34th Odisha State Film Awards, 2022 in Best Documentary Film and Special Jury Award respectively. [15] [16]

A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre is a mass communication research centre located in New Delhi, India and a constituent institute of the Jamia Millia Islamia. The full form for AJK MCRC is Anwar Jamal Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre named after its founder Anwar Jamal Kidwai in 1982.

Shohini Ghosh is the Sajjad Zaheer Professor of media at the AJK Mass Communication Research Center, Jamia Millia Islamia. She is an essayist on popular culture and a documentary filmmaker. In a 2007 interview at the University of Minnesota, she provided reflections on her life and work.

Hemant Chaturvedi is an Indian cinematographer in the Hindi film industry, he received great critical acclaim for his first feature, Company (2002). Education is based on three-tier model which includes primary schools, followed by secondary schools and tertiary education at universities or other institutes of same level. Education Department of the Government of Delhi is a premier body which looks into the educational affairs. The RTE right to education states that children from the age of 6 to 14 have to compulsorily be educated. 25% of the seats in all private schools are also reserved for the under-privileged children. Tertiary education is administrated by the Directorate of Higher Education.

Nanda Master’nka Chatasali is a hybrid documentary film directed by Pranab Kumar Aich. It is produced by Abhaya Pati under the banner of Abhismita films. The film narrates the journey of Indian Centenarian Free Educationist Nanda Prusty's unwavering commitment and selflessness towards the people of his village. The film world premiered at the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival on 7 December 2023, where it competed in the Asian Select Category. Official trailer and poster of the film was launched at Bharat Pavilion at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, 2024.
