The Odisha State Film Awards have been conferred by the Department of Culture of the Government of Odisha, India.
The awards were initiated in 1968. The awards are decided by independent juries formed by the Department of Culture. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film fraternity, academician, journalist and public servants.
“The Jayadev Award” is a special award given to a film personality for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Odia cinema.

Uttam Mohanty is an Indian film and television actor who has to his credit more than 135 Odia films to date and has acted in 30 Bengali films and in a Hindi film Naya Zaher.
The Odia cinema, colloquially known as Ollywood, is the Odia language Indian film industry, based in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha, India. The name Ollywood is a portmanteau of the words Odia and Hollywood.
Anubhav Mohanty is an Indian actor, politician, film producer, television personality and social activist who is known for his work in Odia-Bengali language films. Mohanty has a significant fan following especially in Odisha.
Sarat Pujari was an Indian actor, director and producer in Odia film industry (Ollywood). He was originally from Jhaduapada, Sambalpur.
Rangin Jajabara is a 1975 Odia language Indian movie. The music was composed by Akshya Mohanty. It was produced by Bijay Pattnaik, directed by Akshaya Mohanty, Hemanta Das and Bijay Mishra (Trimurty). It stars Sriram Panda, Banaja Mohanty and Tripura Mishra. Jajabar was the first black-and-white film in Odia to be digitally colourised and re-released in the state.
Devdas Chhotray is an Indian Odia author, administrator and academician. He was the first vice-chancellor of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha. His work consists of poetry, short stories, lyrics, musicals and screenplays. Chhotray's father Gopal Chhotray, a recipient of Padma, Central Sahitya Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, was an architect of modern Odia theatre.

Swayamsiddha is a 2010 Odia film directed by Sudhanshu Sahu with a screenplay and dialogue by Dilip Choudhury, produced by Prabhat Ranjan Mallik, and starring Siddhanta Mahapatra and Yukta Inderlal Mookhey. The film focuses on the implications for the young mass adopting to Maoist insurgency and their sustained alienation from the mainstream as a result. Geo-strategic importance of changing the minds of young people adopting terrorism through love and affection. The film traces the crisis from social trauma to unfair state system encouraging Mao-Naxal insurgency in Odisha.
Malajahna is a 1965 Oriya film written and directed by Nitai Palit based on a novel of the same title by the Oriya novelist Upendra Kishore Das. The film stars Akshaya Mohanty (Kashyap) and Jharana Das in the lead. Considered as a classic in the history of Oriya cinema, the film deals with an unusual theme in seventies in rural India of love between a married woman and a young man.

Haata Dhari Chalutha is a 2013 Oriya Drama movie directed by Himansu Parija. It was produced by Anubhav Mohanty & Anuprash Mohanty. The film stars with Anubhav Mohanty and Barsha Priyadarshini in lead roles. The music was given by Prem Anand. The film released on 14 June 2013. The film was a remake of Telugu film Solo.
Balunga Toka is a 2011 Indian Odia-language romantic drama film directed by Sudhakara Basanta. The film stars Anubhav Mohanty and Barsha Priyadarshini as lead role. Balunga Toka was released on 2 October 2011. The film was commercially successful and became the highest-grossing Odia film of all time. It is a remake of the 2004 Tamil-Telugu bilingual film 7G Rainbow Colony. The film score was released by Amara Muzik.
Luchakali is an Odia drama and thriller film released on 30 March 2012. it features Babushaan, Shriya Jha, Samaresh Routray and Ajit Das in key roles with original music by Anbu Selvam. It is partially inspired by Hollywood thriller Sleeping with the Enemy.

Namrata Mohanty is an Odia singer based in Cuttack, Odisha, India. She is a B-High grade singer of All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack since 1983. She is a science graduate from Brahmapur University. She was undergoing Masters, but discontinued because of illness.
Manimala Devi was an Indian Odia film actress. Devi was born in the Bilibasi village of Cuttack, and stepped into the film world at the age of nine. She never went to school. In 1945 she started to act in the Annapurna theatre of Cuttack.
Gloria Mohanty was an Indian theatre, television and film actress who worked in the Odia film industry. She was honoured with the State's highest honour for contribution to Odia cinema – the Jayadeb Puraskar in 1994 and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1992. Cultural organisation Srjan awarded her Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award for the year of 2011. and Life Time Achievement Award from Cultural organisation Ghungur in 2012.
