Odisha, formerly Orissa, is an Indian state located in Eastern India. It is the eighth-largest state by area, and the eleventh-largest by population, with over 41 million inhabitants. The state also has the third-largest population of Scheduled Tribes in India. It neighbours the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal to the north, Chhattisgarh to the west, and Andhra Pradesh to the south. Odisha has a coastline of 485 kilometres (301 mi) along the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean. The region is also known as Utkaḷa and is mentioned by this name in India's national anthem, Jana Gana Mana. The language of Odisha is Odia, which is one of the Classical languages of India.
The Odia (ଓଡ଼ିଆ), formerly spelled Oriya, are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the Indian state of Odisha who speak the Odia language. They constitute a majority in the eastern coastal state, with significant minority populations existing in the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Tulasi Munda is a social activist from the Indian state of Odisha. In 2022, Babushan Mohanty portrayed Doctor Character in DAMaN movie was an Indian Odia-language adventure drama film Released in Odia as well as in the Hindi language and it was one of the highest grossing Odia movies.
Biswanath Rath is an Indian film director, screenwriter, editor and producer. His films have received a total of 530 recognition/awards in various International Film Festivals across the globe. He is the Odia filmmaker to achieve the milestone of winning 500 film festival accolades which includes 118 awards. He is the founder of production company BnR Films LLP.
Khyanikaa: The Lost Idea is a 2017 Odia language independent feature film written and directed by Amartya Bhattacharyya. The film won the state award for Best Editing at the 29th Odisha State Film Awards which was awarded to the filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya, who was also the editor of the film.

Biju Babu is a 2019 Indian Odia-language political action film written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Devi Prasad Lenka and produced by Nila Madhab Panda. It stars Anubhav Mohanty in the lead role. It is the first Odia film produced by Panda.

Pratikshya is a 2022 Indian Odia language drama film, produced & directed by Anupam Patnaik. The film is written by Roshan Bisoi and inspired from a short story, Bapa written by Gourahari Das. Ankesh Anand, Ashish Pradhan and Bivash Rath being the music composer of the film, the cinematography is being handled by Deepak Kumar. Anupam Kher announced to produce and act in its Hindi remake.
Hakim Babu is a 1985 Indian Odia-language drama film directed by Pranab Das and starring Ajit Das, Jaya Swami and Bijaya Jena. The film marks the second collaboration between Pranab and Ajit Das after Sesha Pratikhya (1979). The story is based on Bibhuti Patnaik's novel of the same name and talks about industrialization and displacement in an Odisha village.
