Aadim Vichar (English: The Ancient Justice) is a 2014 Indian Sambalpuri language drama film directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. [1] The film won 62nd National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Odia [2] and is a sequel to the 2012 movie "Sala Budha". [3] Atal Bihari Panda and Sushree Smita Panda played lead roles in the film. [4] [5]

Plot

Sukru Majhi (Atal Bihari Panda), an 84-year-old Kondh tribal and always a righteous humanist and loving person. He has three sons living with their wives and two grandchildren in a village. Majhi lives a very happy life until an Ayurvedic Practitioner (Vaidya) comes to the village. The Vaidya is a tout and keeps a greedy eye on the lands of the locals.

The Vaidya traps the locals into conspiracy and drags them into litigation, and in return, he captures their land. Somehow he provokes Sukru's eldest son to go against his father and convinces him to file a case against his father for his property. But Sukru smartly makes a statement in front of the judge which surprises the judge and everyone present in the court. He decides to stay with his eldest son (adopted) and requests to give his property to his legitimate sons, the case gets solved in a happy ending. [6]

The movie's songs were Composed by Ghasiram Mishra and Pankaj Jal. "Likri Jhikri" and "Lal Jhara Jhara" both sang by Sarbeswar Bhoi, were declared Hits all over odisha. [7] [8] [9]

Bhukha is a 1989 Indian Sambalpuri-language film directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. The movie was produced by Mohapatra under the banner of Kumar Productions and had music by Ramesh Kumar Mahananda. This movie is based on the Sambalpuri play Bhukha written by Manglu Charan Biswal. It was the first film from Odisha to get an International Jury Award at the Gijón International Film Festival.

The first ever Sambalpuri movie released was Bhukha. It was released in the year 1989 and was directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra. It was also the first film from Odisha to get an International Jury Award at the Gijon International Film Festival. The second film in Sambalpuri language is Ulugulan (Revolution), which was released in 2008, directed by Mahmood Hussain and produced by Purnabasi Sahu. Its story is set in the first half of the 18th century and depicts the tyrannical rule of the Nagpur rulers.

Chini is a 2016 Indian Odia and Sambalpuri language drama film directed by Pradeep Bhol and produced by Bhabani Majhi & Snehalata Parida. The film is made under the banner of Navajiban Films. It stars Amlan Das and Patrali in lead roles while Mahasweta Ray and Mihir Das play supporting roles. Well known playback singer Asha Bhosle sang a Sambalpuri number in the upcoming Odia film 'Chini' with a western Odisha flavour. Asha has sung 'Uanshar andhare nai dishe sina, haji nai jai jan, in Odia language uaansha ratire dise nahin sina haji jae nahin jaha ,' penned by Durga Madhab Panda and singer Tapu Mishra for the film. This film won the state film award for best film in 2016.

Sarbeswar Bhoi is an Indian folksinger from Kalahandi, India of Sambalpuri folk music. He sang songs such as "Likri Jhkri' and "Lal Jhara Jhara" for the Sambalpuri movie Aadim Vichar, which won National Award for Best Feature Film in Odia Category in 2014.

Atal Bihari Panda was an Indian actor, playwright and lyricist, known for his works in Sambalpuri odia Cinema. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including two back-to-back Odisha State Film Awards for best actor. His debut in films came at an age of 83 years. Before his debut as an actor in films, he had already written 60 plays. He also wrote lyrics in many Sambalpuri songs.

Lochani Bag is an Indian actor who works mainly in the Odia film industry, "Ollywood". She has acted in films such as Aadim Vichar, Pahada ra Luha, Sala Budha and Odisha's first biopic film Tulasi Apa.

PanditGopal Chandra Panda is a Guru of Odissi classical music, vocalist, researcher and composer. A disciple of Singhari Shyamsundar Kar, he has authored several books such as Odissi Raga Ratnabali & Odissi Raga Darpana, and is acclaimed for his efforts to collect & document several traditional Odissi ragas from the hinterlands. Panda served as a lecturer and head of department in the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya for nearly three decades. He has performed in music festivals across the country and is the founder of the Gopal Panda Odissi Academy. In 2011, Panda received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contributions to Odissi music.
