Mohanlal is an Indian actor, producer, and playback singer who has starred in both blockbuster and art house films. During his career, he has appeared in more than 346 feature films, primarily in Malayalam cinema, and also in Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. In 1978, when he was 18, he started acting with a minor comedic role in the unreleased film Thiranottam, before making screen debut in 1980 as antagonist in the romance film Manjil Virinja Pookkal. His portrayal of Narendran, a sadistic husband, received recognition and the film developed a cult status in Malayalam cinema. Subsequently, Mohanlal was cast as the antagonist in many films. His first positive role was in Padayottam (1982), the first 70 mm film in Malayalam. It was 1983's Aattakalasam that gave him stardom. In 1984 he starred in Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, a comedy film whose success triggered a trend and popularised the genre in the 1980s. In an early critically acclaimed performance, Mohanlal played an antihero in the I. V. Sasi-directed thriller Uyarangalil (1984). In the same year, he co-founded Casino Films, a motion picture production company which later produced his popular comedies Gandhinagar 2nd Street (1986) and Nadodikkattu (1987).
Twenty:20 is a 2008 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written by Udayakrishna and Siby K. Thomas and directed by Joshiy. The film stars Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram and Dileep and was produced and distributed by actor Dileep through Graand Production and Manjunatha Release. The film was produced on behalf of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) as a fundraiser to financially support actors who are struggling in the Malayalam film industry. All the actors in AMMA worked without payment in order to raise funds for their welfare schemes. The film features an ensemble cast, which includes almost all artists in AMMA. The music was composed by Berny-Ignatius and Suresh Peters.
Moonnam Mura is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by K. Madhu and written by S. N. Swamy. Starring Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Lalu Alex, Revathi, and Mukesh. The plot deals with a terrorist group kidnapping a group of political individuals who were vacationing, and the followed up rescue operation of the police led by Ali Imran.

Poovinnu Puthiya Poonthennal is a 1986 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Fazil and produced by Swargachitra Appachan, starring Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Nadiya Moidu and Baby Sujitha. It was later remade in Tamil as Poovizhi Vasalile, in Telugu as Pasivadi Pranam, in Kannada as Aapadbandhava and in Hindi as Hatya Bangladeshi unofficial remake in Bengali Khotipuron and in Sinhala as Wada Barinam Wadak Na. The three remakes each had a different ending. Babu Anthony played the role of the killer and Sujitha played the role of deaf and mute boy in all the five versions.

The film features music composed by A. T. Ummer. Ramesh, Sudhakaran and Rajasekharan are long-lost friends, who reunite to take revenge against the evildoer in their lives. The film was the debut of Indrajith Sukumaran, who plays the younger version of Ramesh (Mohanlal).

It starred Gayathri Arun and Vivek Gopan and was produced by Ross Petals. The last episode aired on 31 August 2018 with 1,524 episodes becoming Malayalam's longest ran soap opera.
