Pravin Darekar is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He was a one term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Magathane (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and former leader of Opposition in Maharashtra legislative council.
Pravin Darekar lost the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections 2014.
Praveen Darekar was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena ticket in 2009.
Pravin Darekar was one of the driving forces along with Raj Thackeray to form the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. [1] [2]

The 2008 attacks on Uttar Pradeshi and Bihari migrants in Maharashtra began on 3 February 2008 after violent clashes between workers of two political parties—Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Samajwadi Party (SP)—at Dadar in Mumbai,capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The clashes took place when workers of MNS,a splinter faction formed out of the Shiv Sena,tried to attack workers of SP,the regional party based in Uttar Pradesh,who were proceeding to attend a rally organised by the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA). A political crisis in the Indian state of Maharashtra occurred on 21 October 2019 after the declaration of results of the 2019 legislative assembly election over the formation of a new state government. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party Shiv Sena alliance crossed the majority of 145 seats needed in the assembly by winning a total of 161 seats in the alliance. Individually BJP won 105 and SHS won 56 seats. The Opposition INC-NCP Alliance with 106 seats did not reach the majority mark. Individually INC won 44 and NCP won 54 seats.
