Predator: The Preserve (initially published simply as Predator) is the second comic book limited series of Marvel Comics' Predator , created and written by Ed Brisson and illustrated by Netho Diaz. The series ran for five issues from March to July 2023. Giuseppe Camuncoli provided cover art for this series only. A trade paperback was released on October 24, 2023. The series follows Theta Berwick from Predator: Day of the Hunter as she takes on a trio of Bad Blood Yautja operating on the game preserve planet from Predators , in 2062.
The series was followed by the 2024 miniseries Predator: The Last Hunt , while the 2025 film Predator: Killer of Killers would return to concepts introduced in this series, developed by Alex Litvak for the unmade sequel to Predators, in revealing the humans captured by Bad Blood Yautja and brought to their game preserve as having been taken from different time periods in history.
In July 2020, Marvel Comics was announced to be developing a new line of Predator comic books to release in 2021, [1] The second limited series in a planned series about Yautja-hunter Theta Berwick, Predator: The Preserve, written by Ed Brisson and drawn by Netho Diaz as a continuation of Predator: Day of the Hunter and the 2010 film Predators , would be published in 2023. [2]
The series returns to a concept developed by Alex Litvak for the unmade sequel to Predators, in revealing the humans captured by Bad Blood Yautja and brought to their game preserve planet in the future as having been taken from various time periods in human history, [3] a cut subplot from the 2018 film The Predator further revealing their ships to have time travel capabilities. [4]
In the year 2062, eight soldiers from different points in human history are brought to a game preserve plant to hunt by a trio of Bad Blood Yautja. [5]
While most of the captured soldiers are killed, Theta Berwick arrives on the planet hunting the Bad Blood Yautja herself. [6]
Theta has gotten the surviving soldiers to her ship the Sandpiper, but an unexpected ambush by the Yautja prevent all but one from boarding. While Theta fights for her life, Kiyoshi boards the ship and prepares to escape, leaving everyone else behind. [7]
A fight for control of the Sandpiper breaks out as distrust and fear splits the survivors into opposing groups, as Theta must decide whether a human life is worth giving up on the last remaining connection to her family, reluctantly realising how similar they really are. [8]
In the final showdown, the human soldiers hunt each other across the ship, to Theta's chagrin, while a hidden Yautja quietly and curiously watches the carnage unfold. [9]
Predator: The Preserve received positive reviews. [10] [11] [12]
A sequel, Predator: The Last Hunt , was published for four issues between February and May 2024 and collected into a trade paperback on October 15, 2024, [13] while an animated film adapting concepts introduced in both series, Predator: Killer of Killers , was released on June 6, 2025.
