Preethi Asrani (born 6 September 2000) is an Indian actress who primarily appears in Telugu and Tamil films and television industry. [1] She played the lead role in the Tamil soap opera Minnale on Sun TV. [2] She debuted as a lead actress with Pressure Cooker (2020) and starred in the critically acclaimed Ayothi (2023). [3]

Early life

Asrani is a Sindhi from Gujarat.[ citation needed ] She moved to Hyderabad to pursue a career in cinema. As of 2020, she is enrolled at St. Ann's College for Women in Hyderabad. Her cousin, Anju Asrani, is also an actress. [3]

Career

At age sixteen, Asrani debuted in the short film Fidaa, where she portrayed a blind girl.[ citation needed ] She made her television debut with Pakkinti Ammayi. [4] She starred in the film Malli Raava (2017) and played the younger version of the main actress in the film. Her performance in the film enabled her to receive offers to act in other films. [3]

After Malli Rava, Asrani signed a film starring Naga Shaurya and Eesha Rebba, but the film failed to take off. [5] In 2018, she debuted in Tamil television with Sun TV's Minnale and plays the lead role in the serial. [2] Asrani debuted as a lead actress with Pressure Cooker (2020) opposite Sai Ronak. [3] [4] She made her Tamil debut with Ayothi (2023) along with Sasikumar based on true incidents. Ayothi (transl. Ayodhya) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by newcomer R. Manthira Moorthy, starring M. Sasikumar, Yashpal Sharma, Preethi Asrani, Pugazh, Anju Asrani and Master Advaith Vinod in the lead roles. The music was composed by N. R. Raghunanthan with cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and editing by San Lokesh. The film contains Hindi dialogues and a song. The film was released theatrically on 3 March 2023 and digitally on ZEE5 on 7 April 2023 and opened to highly positive reviews among the audience and critics, with praise directed towards the direction, screenplay, cast performances, and social message. The film was a critical and commercial success.
