The prime minister of the State of East Indonesia (Indonesian : Perdana Menteri Negara Indonesia Timur) [a] was the head of government of the short-lived State of East Indonesia (NIT), a Dutch-backed state that existed from 1946 to 1950 in what is present-day Indonesia. The prime minister served as head of the cabinet and was appointed or dismissed by the president, though it would answer to the parliament. In total, there were six people who served as prime minister during the existence of the NIT. However, the office was abolished when the NIT itself was dissolved into the Republic of Indonesia in August 1950.
