Proteas Voulas is a Greek basketball club that is based in Voula, Attica. It was founded in 1980. [1] Proteas has both men's and women's basketball teams, which play in Greek national divisions. The women's team plays in the Greek Women's League (first-tier), and the men's team plays in Greek Elite League (second-tier). The team's colours are blue and red. The home arena of the club is the Voulas Indoor Hall.

Women's team

Proteas Voulas Women's team won a Greek Cup title, in the 2012–13 season. [2] That same season, the club played in the A2 National Women's League. Proteas thus became the first club in Greek women's basketball to win a Greek Cup title, while it was playing in a lower division than the top-tier level Greek Women's League. [3] [4] After that same season, Proteas was promoted up to the top-tier level league.

Men's team

For the 2024–25 season, the men's team of Proteas Voulas plays in the Greek Elite League (second-tier). They were promoted up to the second division of Greek basketball for the first time in the team's history.

Irodotos Football Club, short for Podosferikós Athlitikós Sýllogos Alikarnassoú Iródotos and also simply known as Irodotos, is a Greek football club, based in Nea Alikarnassos, Heraklion. The club is named after the ancient historian Herodotus, descended from Halicarnassus, Asia Minor, whose bust is also used as the club logo. Irodotos was established in 1932 by refugees from Asia Minor, who were displaced following the Greco-Turkish War in 1922. By acclamation, Irodotos is considered the third most successful club in Heraklion in terms of achievements, due to its consistent presence in the Second and Third national divisions, but has maintained a considerable fan base, and a longstanding rivalry with local Superleague side OFI, despite the fact the two haven't met in national competitions for almost 30 years. The 2014–15 Greek A2 Basket League was the 29th season of the Greek A2 Basket League, the second-tier level professional club basketball league in Greece. The winner of the league was Kavala The clubs that were promoted to the top-tier Greek Basket League were Kavala, Arkadikos, and Lavrio. In contrast, the teams that were relegated to the third tier Greek B Basket League were Filippos Veria, Ermis Lagkada, and Ilysiakos Ilysiakos withdrew from the league in the middle of the season, because of economic debts. All the games of Ilysiakos were given back to their opponents with scores of 20–0.

G.S. Lavrio B.C., commonly known as simply Lavrio B.C., and also known for sponsorship reasons as Lavrio Megabolt and Lavrio Aegean Cargo, is a Greek professional basketball club that is based in Lavrio, Attica, Greece. The club's full name is Gymnastikos Syllogos Lavrio Basketball Club. The club's current logo is an owl, which symbolizes the ancient Athenian coins, which were made of metals from Lavrio's mines. The team currently plays in the Greek Basket League, the top-tier level basketball league in Greece, and also recently competed in the secondary level European-wide league, the FIBA Champions League.

The 2015–16 Greek A2 Basket League was the 30th season of the Greek A2 Basket League, the second-tier level professional club basketball league in Greece. This season was the first season with the participation of 16 teams. It was also the first season where playoff and play out games were held. The winner was Kymis, which got promoted directly to GBL (A1). The second place team was Faros Keratsiniou, but the club didn't accept to play in the top-tier GBL, and it was replaced by the third placed team, Promitheas Patras. In contrast, Evropi Pefkochoriou and Filippos Veroias were relegated to Greek B League directly, and Peristeri and Panerythraikos were relegated after play out games.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gymnastics Club Ergotelis</span>

The Gymnastics Club «Ergotelis» Heraklion Crete, also known simply as Ergotelis, is a Greek multi sport club based in Heraklion, Crete. The name of the club was inspired by that of the famous ancient Cretan expatriate Olympic runner Ergoteles of Himera. Officially founded in 1929, Ergotelis' colours are yellow and black. The club runs multiple football and basketball departments for both men and women playing in both regional and domestic competitions.

Georgios Makaras is a former Greek professional basketball player. During his playing career, at a height of 1.98 m tall, he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions.

The 2018–19 Greek betshop.gr Basket League was the 79th season of the Greek Basket League, the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Greece. The season started on 7 October 2018, and ended on 15 June 2019. Panathinaikos OPAP won the Greek Basket League championship for a record 37th time, after beating Promitheas Patras 3–0 in the Finals.

The 2019–20 Greek Basketball Cup was the 45th edition of Greek top-tier level professional domestic basketball cup competition. The previous winner of the cup was Panathinaikos. The cup competition started on 18 September 2019 and ended on 16 February 2020. AEK won the competition.

The 2020–21 Greek Basketball Cup was the 46th edition of Greek top-tier level professional domestic basketball cup competition. The previous winner of the cup was AEK. The cup competition started on 13 September 2020 and ended on 9 May 2021. Panathinaikos won the competition.

The 2022–23 Greek Basketball Cup was the 48th edition of Greek top-tier level professional domestic basketball cup competition. The previous winner of the cup was Olympiacos. The cup competition started on 21 September 2022 and ended on 19 February 2023. Olympiacos won the competition.
