The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) is an autonomous council for the Chakma people living in the south-western part of Mizoram,India. It covers the Tuichawng (Chawngte) subdivision of Lawngtlai district. Its headquarters is at Kamalanagar. The Chakma people has been demanding to change the status of the Chakma Autonomous District Council into a Union territory under the name Chakmaland.
Lalduhoma is an Indian politician who serves as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram since 8 December 2023. Formerly an Indian Police Service officer,he resigned from the security service to the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi,and was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram and President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee in 1984. He however left the party from which he was elected two years later,for which he was disqualified from the Parliament. He became the first MP in India to be discharged based upon its anti-defection law.
The Zoram People's Movement is an alliance of six regional parties formed under the leadership of MLA and former IPS Officer Lalduhoma. The party advocates for secularism and the protection of religious minorities in India. In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly polls,the party won 27 seats out of 40 seats and Lalduhoma became the Chief Minister of Mizoram.
Tuichawng is one of the 40 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Mizoram state in India.
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Mizoram on 7 November 2023 to elect all 40 members of Mizoram Legislative Assembly,which had 174 candidates and saw 80.66% voter turnout. The votes were counted on 4 December 2023 which showed the Zoram People's Movement's victory winning 27 seats out of 40.
Nihar Kanti Chakma is an Indian politician representing West Tuipui in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly since 1998. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. Nihar Kanti Chakma was born to Late Hari Kristo Chakma,a resident of Nunsury village,and a former MLA of the same constituency. Earlier,he held the post of Minister of Veterinary &Rehabilitation department in Mizoram. He made his political debut as a member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in 1998 after his father's death. Since then,he is the sole undefeated MLA from Mizoram.
Rasik Mohan Chakma is an Indian politician and the current MLA for Mizoram Legislative Assembly from Tuichang Assembly constituency in the 2023 general election as Mizo National Front candidate. He was the Chief Executive Member of the Chakma Autonomous District Council,an autonomous region in Mizoram. Rasik Mohan Chakma was born to Late Sukra Moni Chakma. He is a resident of Borapansury I,Lawngtlai district. He was the founder president of The Chakma District Mizo National Front (CDMNF).
K. Laldawngliana is an Indian politician who is serving as Member of Mizoram Legislative Assembly from Tuirial Assembly constituency. He was reelected from the same constituency as Member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in December 2023.
Lalrinpuii is an Indian politician in the state of Mizoram. She is currently serving as an MLA from Lunglei East constituency of Lunglei district. She is the first woman to become a minister of Mizoram with cabinet rank on 8 December 2024 when she took oath as the Minister for health,social welfare and tribal affairs,women and child development,and tourism portfolios.
Lorrain Lalpekliana Chinzah is an Indian politician in the state of Mizoram. He is currently serving as Adviser to Chief Minister on Health &Family Welfare &Agriculture. He was elected as an MLA from Lawngtlai East constituency of Lawngtlai district. In the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Elections he defeated sitting MLA H. Biakzaua by a huge margin of 2,101 votes.
Lalramliana Papuia is an Indian politician from the state of Mizoram. He is currently serving as an MLA from Lunglei South Constituency of Lunglei district in the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Elections. He defeated sitting MLA K. Pachhunga by a margin of 1,226 votes.
C. Ngunlianchunga is an Indian politician from Mizoram. He is currently serving as an MLA from Lawngtlai West Constituency of Lawngtlai district in the 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election. He retained the seat defeating V. Zirsanga by a margin of 432 votes.
