Psychobuildings is a band formed in 2010 by frontman Peter LaBier alongside Juan Pieczanski (of Small Black), and are based in Brooklyn, New York. Their music has been featured in the past on The Fader,. [1] Pitchfork, [2] Spin, [3] NME, [4] and BrooklynVegan. [5] Psychobuildings has been described, by Peter Macia of The Fader, as being "Like 'Ghostrider' filtered through 'Let's Dance'". [6]

Initially started as a recording project by musician and visual artist Peter LaBier, he was later joined by multi-instrumentalist and producer Juan Pieczanski of Small Black [7] along with Peter Schuette of Silk Flowers, [8] [9] who added synths to the group's first singles and EP.

After receiving positive reviews from The Fader , Pitchfork , Vice [10] and NME , the group released their first 7 inch single No Man's Land / Portrait on the UK based label Transparent. [11] [12] Their second single, Birds of Prey / Paradise [13] was released by the Brooklyn based indie label All Hands Electric. [14] Their subsequent self titled EP, Psychobuildings [15] was also released by All Hands Electric with album art by Ryan Johnson. [16] Their EP Hearts was released in 2012 on Wondersound Records. [17] [18]

After a hiatus, the group began releasing new music in late 2019 starting with the singles Other World and The Back Door. [19]

Peter LaBier [20] was born and raised in Washington, DC [21] and has exhibited his artwork nationally and internationally. [22] He received his bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 2003 [19] and an MFA in visual arts from Columbia University in 2017. [23]

Known for his lively dancing, [10] LaBier's live show has been described as being 'inspired by [James] Brown's moves as well as his sounds' [24] by writer Brandon Stosuy of Stereogum. LaBier himself lists various influences which include Michael Jackson and James Brown [25]

In addition to his work as a musician and visual artist, LaBier has directed music videos including 'Feed Me Diamonds' by MNDR, [26] starring Raven from Rupauls Drag Race. [27]

James Blake (musician) English singer-songwriter, and record producer from London

James Blake Litherland is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer from London. He first received recognition for a series of 2010 EPs including CMYK and Klavierwerke, and he released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to critical praise. His second album Overgrown was released in 2013, bringing him to international attention, and later was awarded the Mercury Prize. Small Black is an American indie band from Brooklyn, New York. They are currently signed to the 100% Electronica record label. The band consists of Josh Kolenik, Ryan Heyner (guitar/keyboards), Juan Pieczanski (bass/guitar), and Jeff Curtin (drums).

Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known professionally as FKA Twigs, is an English singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress. Born and raised in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, she became a backup dancer after moving to South London at age 17. She made her musical debut with the extended plays EP1 (2012) and EP2 (2013).
