Amarinder Singh, is an Indian politician, military historian, former royal and Indian Army veteran who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. Before starting his political career, Singh was an officer in the Indian Army, served in the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966.
Preneet Kaur is an Indian politician who served in the Government of India as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 to 2014. She is married to Amarinder Singh, who was the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. She joined the Congress party, to which her husband also belonged once, and contested parliamentary elections repeatedly from the Patiala constituency. In February 2023, she was suspended from party for supporting BJP leader and her husband Amarinder Singh. She won the elections of 1999, 2004 and 2009, but lost her seat in the elections of 2014 and made a comeback by winning again in 2019.
The Government of Punjab, also known as the State Government of Punjab or locally as the State Government, is the supreme governing authority of the Indian state of Punjab and its 23 districts. It consists of an executive, led by the Governor of Punjab, a judiciary and a legislative branch.
Charanjit Singh Channi is an Indian politician who served as the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. He is serving as a Member of the Lok Sabha from Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency since 4 June 2024. He was also Minister of Technical Education and Training in Second Amarinder Singh ministry and leader of the opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He was the first Dalit to become the CM of Punjab.
Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa is an Indian politician and a member of Indian National Congress. He is a Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly (MLA) and represents Fatehgarh Churian. He heads the Ministries of Rural Development Now Animal Husbandry Panchayats and Water Supply & Sanitation for the Government of Punjab.
Parkash Singh Badal was an Indian politician and Sikh rights advocate who served as the 8th Chief Minister of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017, the longest serving Chief Minister of Punjab till date. He was also Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 1972 to 1977, 1980 to 1983 and from 2002 to 2007 and the 11th Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare in the Morarji Desai ministry from 1977 to 1977. He was the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a Sikh-centered regional political party, and the president of the party from 1995 to 2008, when he was replaced by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal. As the patron of SAD he exercised a strong influence on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
Sukhbir Singh Badal is an Indian politician and businessman who served twice as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and is currently the president of Shiromani Akali Dal, and was a member of Parliament from the Firozpur Lok Sabha constituency. He is the son of Parkash Singh Badal, who has served five times as the Chief Minister of Punjab. He is influential over the Sikh organizations of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Badal and his family have ownership stakes in an array of businesses- including real estate, transport and other activities.
Captain Amarinder Singh's second cabinet started from March 2017. Amarinder Singh is the leader of INC was sworn in the Chief Ministers of Punjab on 16 March 2017. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer is a two time member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Barnala constituency. He is a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Punjab. He first won the Legislative Assembly elections from the Aam Aadmi Party in 2017 by defeating the Indian National Congress's candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon. In the 2022 Legislative Assembly elections, he again won the Barnala constituency by a huge margin by securing almost 50% of the votes polled. He holds five important portfolios in the Mann ministry, wherein he is the Minister of the Departments of Higher Education & Languages, Governance Reforms, Sports & Youth Services, Science Technology & Environment and Printing & Stationery. He is also the in-charge of the Youth Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
Harpal Singh Cheema is an Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Dirba Assembly constituency located in Sangrur District, Punjab. In March 2022, he became first BobA to be a finance minister of Punjab. He joined the Aam Aadmi Party just before the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He contested and won the election from Dirba Assembly constituency against a popular Punjabi Kabbadi player Gulzar Singh Moonak from Shiromani Akali Dal and Ajaib Singh Ratolan from Indian National Congress. In July 2018 he was appointed leader of opposition of Punjab Legislative Assembly.
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Punjab on 20 February 2022 to elect the 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the results were declared on 10 March 2022.
On 18 September 2021, several government members of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Indian National Congress in India attended a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting, which may or may not lead to the change of CM of the Indian National Congress in Punjab.
Lal Chand Kataruchak is an Indian politician and the MLA from Bhoa Assembly constituency. He belongs to vill Kataru Chak in Pathankot. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He had been sarpanch of Kataru Chak village for six terms.
Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. is an Indian politician and the MLA from Jandiala Assembly constituency. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He became an Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) in 2012 but he took voluntary retirement from the post of ETO in 2017 and he contested election from Jandiala constituency in 2017. He secured 33912 votes in 2017 and was among the highest vote gatherers in Majha region of Punjab in 2017. In 2022 he won from the same constituency with a margin of almost 25000+ votes defeating working president and sitting MLA Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal is an Indian politician and the MLA representing the Ajnala Assembly constituency also Cabinet Minister in Punjab Government led by CM Bhagwant Mann. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Laljit Singh Bhullar is an Indian politician and the MLA representing the Patti, Punjab Assembly constituency. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The Bhagwant Mann ministry is the State Cabinet of Punjab, India headed by the present Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The oath-taking ceremony of Mann was held at Khatkar Kalan village on 16 March 2022. The 10 cabinet ministers took oath on 19 March.
Dr. Baljit Kaur is an Indian politician and an eye surgeon. She was elected to the Malout Assembly constituency, Punjab in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Pandit Brahm Shankar Sharma Jimpa is an Indian politician and the minister for Revenue and Water Resources in the Mann ministry, Punjab government. He is the MLA representing the Hoshiarpur Assembly constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He was elected as the MLA in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election.
