Vijay Inder Singla (born 1 December 1971) is an Indian politician. He is former member of Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is a former minister in the current council of ministers of Punjab government and heads the Public Works Department and Administrative Reforms. He was a Congress [Member of Parliament] from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab from 2009 to 2014. In 2014,he lost Lok Sabha election from Sangrur to Bhagwant Mann with a margin of 3,51,827 votes. In 2017,he won Sangrur constituency with margin of 30000 votes. In 2022,he lost to Narinder Kaur Bharaj of AAP,with margin of 36,430 votes. His father Sant Ram Singla was also Congress MP,and was Minister in first term of Captain Amarinder Singh Government in Punjab. Recently,he has been given key profile in AICC,as a Secretary,AICC to the AICC Treasurer. Earlier,he has been national spokesperson of Congress.
Vijay Inder Singla did his matriculation from Yadavindra Public School,Patiala in 1987 and intermediate from Multani Mal Modi College,Patiala in 1989. [2] He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in (Computer Science) from B.M.S. College of Engineering,Bangalore,Karnataka. [3]
His political career began with Punjab Youth Congress as general secretary from 2002 - 2004 and vice-president later. On his father's death he was appointed chairman of Punjab Energy Development Authority in 2005 by the Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh. [4] He was President of Punjab Youth Congress from 2006 to 2008 and was assigned the task of conducting the first Youth Congress elections in Punjab as a pilot project which was thereafter replicated throughout India. He was made Member of Indian Youth Congress Election Commission (2010-2012) which was responsible for conducting Youth Congress elections in India to identify fresh grassroot talent,known to be a close confidant of Rahul Gandhi brigade.
In 2009 he was elected to Lok Sabha from Sangrur Lok Sabha by defeating Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa from Shiromani Akali Dal by a margin of more than 40000 votes. Vijay Inder Singla in his first term as MP is credited with bringing major development projects to this backward region including a 300-bed PGI Sangrur Hospital with an outlay of Rs 449 crore which will change the profile of the constituency with specialized medical treatment,more jobs and better business opportunities. The project has been delayed and heavily criticized by the opposition SAD. Moreover,his efforts in providing greater rail and road connectivity are appreciable like starting of Shatabdi Express from Sangrur,Panj Takht Yatra train,new trains to Sirsa,Ajmer,Jammu etc.,rail track electrification and railway overbridges to ease traffic congestion. Although,these trains were one time affair,people still are happy with his efforts. He brought projects in the Sports field like Synthetic Athletic Track at Sangrur and SAI sports coaching centre at Barnala,undertook extensive rural development works from MPLAD fund in the fields of education,health,community development,sports and public utilities. [5] He represented India at the 64th session of UN General Assembly in New York City in November 2013 and spoke on Palestine refugee issue. [6] [7] He is a Member of Indian Council of World Affairs,National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction,Institute &Governing Body of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education &Research (Chandigarh),Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee,Patiala (Punjab) and Chairman of Regional Consultative Committee on Food Corporation of India (Punjab) and has been pursuing the cause of stakeholders through these forums and bodies.
In 2014 he lost Lok Sabha election from Sangrur constituency. Bhagwant Mann defeated him with a hefty margin of 3,51,827 votes.

Amarinder Singh, is an Indian politician, military historian, former royal and Indian Army veteran who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. Before starting his political career, Singh was an officer in the Indian Army, where he served from 1963 to 1966.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) is a hard-line Sikh nationalist political party led by Simranjit Singh Mann, it is a splinter group of the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, India. They use 'Balti', the Punjabi term for bucket as their official election symbol. Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) was formed on 1 May 1994. The party has seen a resurgence in support after the deaths of Deep Sidhu and Sidhu Moose Wala who were supporters and seen as sympathetic to the cause of Simranjit Singh Mann. Their 2022 Lok Sabha victory after more than two decades has been viewed as a resurgence in a political vacuum due to collapse of other traditional political parties in Punjab. The last major victory for Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) was in the 1989 Lok Sabha elections, where the party and their allies won 10 out of 13 seats from Punjab.
Simranjit Singh Mann is a former Indian Police Service officer and a former Member of the Parliament in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India, representing the constituency of Sangrur since 2022. He lost elections in 2024 and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer became new member of parliament. He is the president of the political party Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). Mann has served three-times as an MP; once from Taran Tarn between 1989 and 1991, and twice from Sangrur between 1999-2004 and since 2022. He is a known Andhabhabasya and his party is known for their pro-Khalistan stances.
Bhagwant Singh Mann is an Indian politician, social worker, former comedian, singer and actor who is currently serving as the 17th Chief minister of Punjab since 2022. He represents the Dhuri Assembly constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly since 2022 and is also serving as the state convener of Aam Aadmi Party, Punjab since 2019. Previously, he was a member of the Lok Sabha from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency from 2014 to 2022.
Preneet Kaur is an Indian politician who served in the Government of India as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 to 2014. She is married to Amarinder Singh, who was the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. She joined the Congress party, to which her husband also belonged once, and contested parliamentary elections repeatedly from the Patiala constituency. In February 2023, she was suspended from the party for supporting BJP leader and her husband Amarinder Singh and campaigning for candidates of the BJP or BJP-allied parties. She won the elections of 1999, 2004 and 2009, but lost her seat in the elections of 2014 and made a comeback by winning again in 2019.

He was first elected as MLA of Sunam in September 2000 by defeating Parmeshwari Devi of Congress during the by-election. He was re-elected as an MLA for the fifth consecutive term in 2017 with his tenure since 2000 to 2012 from Sunam and from 2017 onwards from Lehra Constituency. He is triumphant in his entire career since 2000.
Dalvir Singh Khangura, known as "Goldy", was born on 24 September 1982 in a Jat Sikh family in Dhuri, District Sangrur, Punjab India. He has done his schooling from S.V.M., Dhuri. He later joined S.D. College, Chandigarh and did his Graduation and PGDCA. is former MLA from Dhuri, Sangrur District, Punjab. He got elected for the seat in the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He was a politician in Indian National Congress but joined Aam Aadmi Party in May 2024 in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer is a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Sangrur constituency. He was also a two time member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Barnala constituency. He was a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Punjab. He first won the Legislative Assembly elections from the Aam Aadmi Party in 2017 by defeating the Indian National Congress's candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon. In the 2022 Legislative Assembly elections, he again won the Barnala constituency by a huge margin by securing almost 50% of the votes polled. He held various important portfolios in the Mann ministry, like the Minister of the Department of Higher Education & Languages, Governance Reforms, Sports & Youth Services, Science Technology & Environment and Printing & Stationery. He is also the in-charge of the Youth Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
Harpal Singh Cheema is an Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Dirba Assembly constituency located in Sangrur District, Punjab. In March 2022, he became first BobA to be a finance minister of Punjab. He joined the Aam Aadmi Party just before the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He contested and won the election from Dirba Assembly constituency against a popular Punjabi Kabbadi player Gulzar Singh Moonak from Shiromani Akali Dal and Ajaib Singh Ratolan from Indian National Congress. In July 2018 he was appointed leader of opposition of Punjab Legislative Assembly.
