Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in West Asia. It shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. The capital and largest city is Muscat. Oman has a population of about 5.28 million as of 2024, which is a 4.60% population increase from 2023. and is the 123rd most-populous country. The coast faces the Arabian Sea on the southeast, and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. Muscat is the capital and most populous city in Oman. It is the seat of the Governorate of Muscat. According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the population of the Muscat Governorate in 2022 was 1.72 million. The metropolitan area includes six provinces, called wilayats, and spans approximately 3,500 km2 (1,400 sq mi), making it the largest city by area on the Arabian Peninsula. Known since the early 1st century AD as a leading port for trade between the west and the east, Muscat was ruled successively by various indigenous tribes, as well as by foreign powers such as the Persians, the Portuguese Empire and the Ottoman Empire. In the 18th century, Muscat was a regional military power: its influence extended as far as East Africa and Zanzibar. As an important port town in the Gulf of Oman, Muscat attracted foreign traders and settlers such as the Persians, the Balochs and the Sindhis. Beginning in 1970, after the accession of Qaboos bin Said as the Sultan of Oman, Muscat experienced rapid infrastructural development; it developed a vibrant economy and became a multi-ethnic society. The Globalization and World Cities Research Network classifies Muscat as a Beta-level Global City.
A sewn boat is a type of wooden boat which has its planks sewn, stitched, tied, or bound together with natural fibre rope tendons or flexible wood, such as roots and willow branches. Sewn boat construction techniques were used in many parts of the world prior to the development of metal fasteners, and continued to be used long after that time for small boats to reduce construction costs where metal fasteners were too expensive.

Jewel of Muscat is a ship based on the design of the Belitung shipwreck, an Arabian dhow that was found off the coast of Belitung Island, Indonesia, in 1998 and subsequently salvaged. It was built in a joint effort by the governments of Oman and Singapore and Mike Flecker, one of the people employed by the salvage company Seabed Explorations at the time of the original recovery.

The Maritime Experiential Museum, formerly the Maritime Xperiential Museum and the Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium, was a museum in Resorts World Sentosa, Sentosa, Singapore, built to house the Jewel of Muscat. It was opened on 15 October 2011 and was closed on 2 March 2020 to become part of the new Singapore Oceanarium, an expansion of the former S.E.A. Aquarium.

Muscat Bay is a resort in Oman, located at Bandar Jissah near Qantab. Previously named Saraya Bandar Jissah, the project was rebranded as Muscat Bay in 2017. The resort is supported by the Omani government as part of an effort to expand the tourism industry in the country.
A monument to the architects and engineers Francesco Laparelli and Girolamo Cassar is situated between the Parliament House and the ruins of the Royal Opera House in Valletta. It was sculpted by John Grima and unveiled in 2016. Grima said of the work that he wanted to "show the sense of fusion that these two architects had in their work – harmony and marriage joined together".
