One of the many unaided colleges of Pharmacy in Maharashtra, Rajghad Dnyeenpeeth's College of Pharmacy is located in the town of Bhor in Pune district. [1] It is managed by Rajghad Dnyeenpeeth foundation which was established by Anantrao Thopte.
R. D. College of Pharmacy was established in 1992 starting with a 2-year diploma course in Pharmacy. A 4-year degree course was started in 1994. The first principal of the college currently is Dr. Rajkumar. V. Shete (Rtd. Dean University of Pune, faculty of Pharmacology). The degree college was affiliated to University of Pune in the beginning and then to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. The first four batches of degree seeking students from this college received their pharmacy degrees from University of Pune.
Bhor is located 60 kilometers away from Pune. MSRTC buses run from Bhor to Swargate bus stand in Pune city every 20 minutes. It takes about 90 minutes from Bhor to Pune by bus. Situated in a picturesque location amid hills of Sahyadri range, Bhor is an ideal setting for a Pharmacy School. Even though Bhor has its rural touches, it is a really nice place to live for 4 years and do a bachelor's degree.
Rajghad Dnyeenpeeth's College of Pharmacy is accredited by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) [2] and Pharmacy Council of India, [3] a statutory body governed by the provisions of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 passed by the Indian Parliament. The faculty at Rajghad Dnyeenpeeth's College of Pharmacy includes professors like S. Budhavale who has been with the school since its inception. The intake every year in this Pharmacy School is of 40 students for the degree course. Many students of this college have gone to make a career in the field of Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing. The Master of Sciences of Pharmacy (MPharm) is the standard master's degree program in Pharmacy. It is the oldest honourable Diploma (Degree) authorized from the European Faculties of Pharmacy as it takes five years to complete. It is based on a credit system higher than the normal Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. It is different from the American Pharmaceutical Diploma, Doctor of Pharmacy,(PharmD), that takes 4 years to complete. The Faculty is a member of the Association of European Faculties of Pharmacy and its graduates meet all the requirements for the profession as defined by the European Union. In the initial three years students revise and broaden their knowledge of elementary natural and medical subjects to the level required for understanding specific subjects from the field of Pharmacy. Students attend lectures and seminars and take part in practical pharmacy placements. During the last year of study they work on their thesis. The programme is concluded by defending the thesis and taking the final state examination. Then the students are awarded the master's degree. The study programme is compliant with EU directive 2005/36/EC. Graduates awarded the master's degree can later sit for a thorough state exam including an advanced thesis defence. After passing they are awarded the "Testing Board" degree . Graduates can apply for postgraduate after studying several branches of Pharmacy in the five accredited years. After defending their dissertation, submit their researches in their selected branches of Pharmacy and passing the final state examination they are awarded the degree. The master's program is offered in different specialized areas, one major being Clinical Pharmacy. Clinical pharmacy specialization enables pharmacists to deliver higher levels of clinical services. In some countries these specializations are happening with residency programs.
A Bachelor of Pharmacy is a graduate academic degree in the field of pharmacy. In many countries, this degree is a prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist. Since both PharmB and PharmD are prerequisites to license in most western countries they’re considered equivalent. In many western countries, the foreign graduates with BPharm, PharmB or BS Pharm practice similarly as PharmD graduates. It is analogous to MBBS vs. MD where MBBS is foreign equivalent of MD. SSR College of Pharmacy is a Pharmaceutical college located in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The late Mohanbhai Sanjibhai Delkar Lok Sabha MP established the college as one of four colleges in the SSR Memorial Trust including the SSR College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The foundation stone was laid by the Mohanbhai Sanjibhai Delkar in 2003.
