R. Lalthangliana is a Mizo politician and academic in Mizoram, India. He is former Cabinet Minister in the Mizo National Front ministry and held the portfolios of Health, Higher & Technical Education and Commerce & Industries. [1] He had been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly from the South Tuipui constituency. [2] He lost to Jeje Lalpekhlua in the 2023 MLA Election. [3]

Career

Dr. R Lalthangliana started his career teaching in Pachhunga University College and was Assistant professor before he was elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. [4] He has been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in 1989, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008. [5]

Education

He has completed his high school in Serkawn Christian School and completed his BA in St. Edmunds College in 1978 after which he completed his M.A. in NEHU in 1980 in Shillong after which he completed his Ph.D. from North-Eastern Hill University in Sociology. [6]

The Mizo National Front is a regional political party in Mizoram, India. It started with intermediate of arts courses, and later expanded to bachelor's degrees in arts, commerce and science. Lalduhoma is an Indian politician and a former Indian Police Service officer who is serving as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram since 8 December 2023. Resigning from the security service to the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram in 1984. He left the Indian National Congress, the party from which he was elected, for which he was disqualified from the parliament. He became the first MP to be discharged upon anti-defection law in India.

Brigadier Ṭhenphunga Sailo, AVSM was an officer of the Indian Army, and the second and twice the Chief Minister of Mizoram, a state in northeast India. He was the creator of Mizoram People's Conference, one of the major political parties in Mizoram. Pu Lal Thanhawla is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Mizoram, belonging to the Indian National Congress party. He holds the record for longest-serving Chief Minister of Mizoram, occupying the position for five terms: 1984 to 1986, 1989 to 1993, 1993 to 1998, 2008 to 2013, and 2013 to 2018. He served as President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee from 1973 to 2021. His electoral constituencies were Serchhip and Hrangturzo from where he successfully contested the Mizoram Legislative Assembly elections nine times, in 1978, 1979, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1993, 2003, 2008, and 2013.

C. L. Ruala is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Indian National Congress. He was a Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He was elected from the only one-seat Mizoram constituency. He won over Robert Romawia, IND candidate, and M. Lalmanzuala, Aam Aadmi Party candidate, by getting a total vote 210,485 (48.7%). He was also elected member in the previous term during 2009-2014.

Zairema was a Presbyterian minister, and a pioneer in theology and literature among the Mizo people of northeast India. He was the first Mizo to obtain the degrees of BSc and BD. He died of cardiac problem on the morning of 17 December 2008 at his residence in Aizawl at the age of 91. He is best remembered as the "father of Mizoram Synod".

Robert Romawia Royte is an Indian politician from Aizawl, Mizoram. He had been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly 2018 from Aizawl East - II Constituency, and from Hachek Constituency from the Mizoram Legislative Assembly 2023. He was the Minister of State in the MNF ministry and held the portfolios of Sports and Youth Services, Tourism and Information and Communication Technology.

Zoramthanga is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Mizoram from 1998 to 2008 and 2018 to 2023. He is also the president of Mizo National Front (MNF) party. He represents the Aizawl East I constituency in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly since 2018 and Champhai constituency from 1998 to 2008.

K. Beichhua is an Indian politician and retired surgeon. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is a former member of the Mizo National Front (MNF) and served as the member of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly for Saiha before resigning to join the BJP. He is former Minister of state in Government of Mizoram as Minister for Social Welfare, Excise & Narcotics & Sericulture department. He resigned as MLA and later joined the BJP after getting expelled from the MNF for anti-party activities.

Lalchhandama Ralte is a Mizo National Front politician from Mizoram He has been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly from Tuivawl Assembly constituency. He is currently the leader of opposition in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly and also leader of Mizo National Front Legislature party.
