Rabiranjan Maitra is an Indian film director and editor who predominantly works in Bengali cinema. His most notable works include Tobu Mone Rekho (1994), Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002), Raatporir Rupkatha (2007), Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2007), Challenge (2009), Chalo Paltai (2011), Chander Pahar (film) (2013), Meghe Dhaka Tara (2013), Jole Jongole (2016), and Amazon Obhijaan (2017). [1] His 2018 ventures include action thriller Kabir starring Rukmini Maitra and Shankar Mudi featuring Kaushik Ganguly, Anjan Dutt, and Sreela Majumder. [1] [2]

Career

Maitra is noted for his work in Bengali cinema. He started his career with the TV movie Tero Sandhyar Galpo in 1990. After that, he got into the world of television. In his career, he has worked in more than 315 feature films. He has worked as a director, an actor, an editor, a sound designer and a producer in many films. [1] [2]

Having won 19 National Awards, along with his contemporaries Aparna Sen and Goutam Ghose, Rituparno heralded contemporary Bengali cinema to greater heights. Ghosh died on 30 May 2013 in Kolkata after a heart attack. Ghosh was also one of the openly homosexual personalities in Indian cinema.

The Eken is a 2022 Indian Bengali-language detective crime film directed by Joydeep Mukherjee. The film is produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. In the film, Anirban Chakrabarti plays the titular role of Ekenbabu, a fictional detective created by the Bengali author, Sujan Dasgupta. Padmanabha Dasgupta has written the screenplay for the film. The film was a commercial as well as a critical success. It released in theatres on 14 April, 2022 and despite clashing with K.G.F: Chapter 2, it was well received by the audience and had a great run at the box office.
