94.3 Radio One is a commercial radio network in India owned by HT Media. It has stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune.

History

The newspaper Mid-Day founded the station as Radio Midday in Mumbai, which was re-launched in 2002 as Go 92.5, an English-language (later also Hindi) radio station, by operating on the 92.5 MHz brand before relaunching itself as Radio One with a new frequency in 2006. [1] [2] [3]

The network is one of the few broadcasting in English (called "international format") in all of India's three biggest cities: Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. [4] Targeting an upscale sophisticated audience. All stations broadcast at 94.3 MHz except the one in Ahmedabad which is at 95.0 MHz.

94.3 Radio One was ranked as India's most attractive radio brand 2017 (out of two radio brands listed), and at place 531 among all brands, in the annual publication India's Most Attractive Brands . [5] [6]

The network is owned by Next Radio Ltd., a subsidiary of Next MediaWorks. The former Managing Director and CEO of Next Radio was Vineet Singh Hukmani. He was also a shareholder director in the company. [7] [8]

Next MediaWorks, the owner of Radio One, was bought by HT Media in 2019, thus expanding Hindustan Times FM service with three brands. (Fever 104 FM , Radio Nasha and Radio One). [9]

94.3 Radio One Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore also stream live on ONLINE at http://1cast.in (World Wide Web URL) AND the company has also launched India's first online audio business channel - Business ONE, in January 2018 (the business channel operates 9am-4pm mon-fri). [10] [11]

94.3 Radio One celebrated its 11th anniversary in September 2018 by launching a pioneering 'audience tracker' , the first by any media company in India, that tracks the consumption habits of its upscale audience across brands and categories [12]

Radio One runs India's largest International format Radio Network in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Although advertising was limited, Win 94.6 FM was the home of a few popular radio jockeys. It was indeed the "No.1 Radio Station In Mumbai." Their punchline was "Hit pe hit pe hit." Win 94.6 FM went off the air on 27 May 2004.

AIR FM Rainbow is a group of FM radio channels across India. The group of stations was previously called FM Metro, but the name was changed to FM Rainbow in 2002. The group is run by All India Radio, or AIR, a government owned enterprise. It features Hindi and regional language songs, while also playing English music and providing hourly news in English, regional language and/or Hindi. In Bhopal, FM Rainbow broadcasts in Hindi to more than 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 21 Bhopal City suburbs. Mid-Day is a morning daily Indian compact newspaper owned by Piyal Roy Chowdhury. Editions in various languages including Gujarati and English have been published out of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune so far. In 2011, the Delhi and Bangalore editions were closed down. In 2014, Jagran Prakashan shut down the midday Pune edition as well.

The FM broadcasting in India began in 1977, but boomed after 2001 when the privatisation of FM broadcasting began. AIR's FM LRS was inaugurated on 1 July 2000 at 06:00 hours in Kodaikanal relaying Madurai programs in the frequency 100.5 MHz. 100.5 was so popular that LRS was upgraded to an FM Channel in just two months. The channel covered a radius of about 200km due to its location at 2200 meters above MSL at Kodaikanal. KODAI FM is popularly known as it is the biggest individual FM channel in India, in both area coverage and listenership.

Vineet Singh Hukmani is credited with creating the 'World's First Music Multiverse' that uses his song 'Run Run Run' to create a superhero 3D animation short film called 'Run Run Run-Storm' and a superhero comic book series titled Run Storm and the Hope Star' as reported in The Hindu and the Times of India.
