Rafael Muino Gamez (born 11 July 1975) is a Spanish wheelchair basketball player. He represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics as a member of Spain national team.

Personal

Muiño was born in San Cristóbal de la Laguna, Tenerife on 11 July 1975. [1] [2] [3] In 2013, he lived in Toledo. [1]

Wheelchair basketball

Muiño is a 2 point player, [1] [4] and guard. Playing for the national team, he wears the number 1 shirt. [2] [5]

National team

Muiño was part of the team that competed at the 2009 European Championships. He was one of the major factors in keeping Spain competitive against Germany during the competition. [6] His team finished third. [1] [7] His selection to represent Spain at the 2011 European Championships was made in March. [8]

Muiño competed in wheelchair basketball at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. [1] It was the first time the Spain national team had qualified for the Paralympics in 16 years. [9] In London, he was coached by Oscar Trigo. [10] His team finished fifth overall. [9] He played in the team's game against Italy. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] He broke a tire in the game against Italy. [16] He scored 15 points in the game against the United States. [17] [18] In London, he made two 3 pointers. [19] At the end of the tournament, he averaged 32:53 minutes per game, 8.1 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 4.6 assists per game. He had a free throw percentage of 51%, 2 point field goal percentage of 42% and 3 point field goal percentage of 40%. [2] At the end of the London Games, he had 58 international appearances. [2]

Club

In 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, Muiño played for CD Fundosa-ONCE. [2] [5] [20] [21] In a 2011 game against Getafe that his team won 87–82, he scored six points. [20] In a November 2013 game against Mideba Extremadura, he scored 9 points in an 80–57 victory for his team. [22]

Jaume Llambi Riera is a wheelchair basketball player and table tennis player from Spain. A paraplegic as a result of a car accident when he was 8 years old, he went on to represent Spain at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in table tennis. He then switched sports to wheelchair basketball, making his national team debut in 1998. In 2012, he represented Spain in wheelchair basketball at the Paralympic Games in London where his team finished fifth.

Spain men's national wheelchair basketball team has represented Spain at the IWBF European Championships, IWBF World Championships and at the Paralympic Games. The team won a bronze at the 2013 European Championships. They finished fifth at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and sixth at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. Spain also has a men's national under-22 team and under-23 team. The under-23 team finished second at the 2009 Paris European Championships.

Maria Dolores "Lola" Ochoa Ribes is a Spanish wheelchair tennis player. A paraplegic as a result of an accident when she was 14, she picked up tennis as a wheelchair player following it. She has gone on to represent Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics, and the 2013 World Championships. In 2013, she was ranked 61st in the world.

Carlos Soler Márquez is a Spanish wheelchair fencer who has represented Spain at five Paralympic Games. Following the 2012 Games, he retired from the sport. He is also a fencing administrator and coach, having organized a World Cup event at the fencing club where he is president.

Francesc Tur Blanch is a wheelchair tennis player from Spain. He has competed in the men's single and doubles events representing Spain at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics. His top international singles world ranking was 19th, a rank he held in August 2010.

Elena Jacinto Vélez is a Spanish wheelchair tennis player, whose best world ranking has been 24th. She competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. She trains with and is a doubles partner with fellow Spaniard, Lola Ochoa Ribes.
