Rahul Kamerkar (born December 12, 1990) is an Indian lawyer and author. [1] [2]

Background and education

Born and raised in Mumbai, Kamerkar passed through Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He holds a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from Mithibai College. He later studied law at Jitendra Chauhan College of Law.

Career

Kamerkar specialises in white-collar crimes and financial disputes. [3] He was enrolled as an advocate with the High Court of Bombay on 22 August 2015. Ever since then, he has been practicing as an advocate at the High Court of Bombay, [4] [5] Supreme Court of India, [6] and Tribunals especially the NCLT Mumbai. Doing Intellectual Property, Commercial, Business, Land, Tax, and Insolvency Litigation. [7]

In his youth, Kamerkar was involved in Indian politics as an associate with the Congress Party [8] and had authored a book titled The Man’s Ultimate Guide to Popularity published by Hay House Publishers. [9] [10] He has since represented various political leaders and political parties from across the aisle in the High Court of Bombay and Supreme Court of India. [11]

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was an Indian born Irish billionaire businessman. He was the chairman of the Tata Group, an Indian business conglomerate, from 2012 to 2016. He was the sixth chairman of the group, and only the second not to bear the surname Tata. In mid-2012, he was chosen by a selection panel to head the Tata Group and took charge in December that year. In October 2016, the board of Tata Group's holding company, Tata Sons, voted to remove Mistry from the post of chairman. Former chairman Ratan Tata then returned as interim chairman, and Natarajan Chandrasekaran was named as the new chairman a few months later. However, in December 2019, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) declared the appointment of Chandrasekaran as executive chairman illegal, and restored Mistry. However, the Supreme Court stayed NCLAT's order on 10 January 2020. Mistry had filed a cross-appeal in the court, seeking explanations for anomalies in the NCLAT. However, the Supreme Court upheld his dismissal.

Justice Abhay Mahadeo Thipsay is a retired judge of the Bombay High Court and the Allahabad High Court. He started his career as an advocate in 1979 and was appointed as Metropolitan Magistrate in the Judicial Service of the State of Maharashtra in 1987. From 2011 to 2016, he was a Judge at the High Court of Bombay where he handled civil suits and criminal trials, several of which were complex, lengthy and sensitive.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha, loosely translated as "Maratha revolutionary demonstration" in the Marathi language, was a series of silent and pragmatic protests organized by the Maratha community in various cities across India, and in overseas diaspora communities. Other groups, such as Muslims and other religious minorities, also supported the Morcha. The impetus for the rallies was the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Kopardi village, Maharashtra, on 13 July 2016. The protesters demanded the death sentence for the rapists. Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road is an 8-lane, 29.2-km long grade separated expressway along Mumbai's western coastline connecting Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north. It is projected to be used by 130,000 vehicles daily, and is expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the Western Suburbs from 2 hours to only 40 minutes. The estimated cost of the project is 13,060 crore (US$1.6 billion). Its first phase, which is inaugurated on 11 March 2024, is a 10.58 km section from Princess Street flyover to the Worli end of the Bandra–Worli Sea Link.

Param Bir Singh is a former Indian police officer of the 1988 Indian Police Service (IPS) batch. He served as the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and the Director General (DG) of the Maharashtra Home Guard. Following the filing of extortion cases against him, he was untraceable, and was declared as absconding by a Mumbai Magistrate Court. Singh was suspended from his present position as The DG of the Home Guard because of his absence by the government of Maharashtra.
