Rahul Shetty is an Indian dancer and choreographer known for his works in Hindi cinema in ABCD 2 (2015), A Flying Jatt (2016), Race 3 (2018), Baaghi 2 (2018), Zero (2018), [1] Housefull 4 (2019), Street Dancer 3D (2020) [2] and Heropanti 2 (2022). [3] He has frequently worked with Tiger Shroff. [4] He collaborated with Prabhu Deva in "Happy Hour" from ABCD 2 along with Paul Marshal [5] [6] and in Street Dancer 3D for "Muqabla 2.0". [7] He in association with Kruti Mahesh, received Filmfare nominations for Best Choreography for the tracks "Illegal Weapon" and "Nachi Nachi" from Street Dancer 3D . Ahmad Khan and Remo D'Souza have been his mentors. [8]

Early life and career

Shetty hails from Mangaluru and relocated to Mumbai to pursue his passion for dancing. He started dancing at the age of 6 and became a child artist for a year in the show Kya Masti Kya Dhoom on Star Plus. [9] He was a contestant in the DID Doubles with Roza, which gained him recognition. He then became part of shows like Krazzy Kiya Re and Nach Baliye . [10] He then teamed up with a fellow contestant from Dance India Dance, Paul Marshal Cardoz, and formed the duo Rahul N Paul. [11] They popularised lyrical hip-hop on Indian television shows along with another Dance India Dance contestant, Raghav Juyal. They served as the captains for the show DID Lil Masters season 3 under the team Rapchik Punters. [12] Sadhwin Shetty, from their team, advanced to be one of the finalists of the show. [13]

He has worked with international artists, and he conducts various dance workshops in the country. [14] He assisted Ahmad Khan and Remo D'Souza in several films notably Raabta for the song "Main Tera Boyfriend" and Nawabzaade for the song "High Rated Gabru". [15] [16]

He collaborated with Tiger Shroff starting in 2014, beginning with "Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main" [17] assisting Ahmad Khan, becoming an independent choreographer for Shroff's films A Flying Jatt and Baaghi 2 , [18] and then joining Heropanti 2 . [19] He worked in Shroff's single music videos "Vandematharam" [20] and "Poori Gal Baat" featuring Mouni Roy. [21]

He worked with Prabhu Deva in ABCD 2 (2013) on the song "Happy Hour" [22] and also danced along in the video with Paul Marshal Cardoz. He choreographed all the songs for the film Street Dancer 3D (2020), [23] particularly with Prabhu Deva in Muqabala 2.0 reprised from Humse Hai Muqabala (1994). In the song, which was originally choreographed by Raju Sundaram, Shetty made sure that his name was also in the credits. [24]

His other single music videos to hit were "Chamiya" featuring Shakti Mohan and Dwayne Bravo, [25] "Kurta Pajama" with Tony Kakkar and Shehnaaz Gill [26] and "Garbe Ki Raat" with Bhoomi Trivedi, Rahul Vaidya and Nia Sharma. [27]

ABCD: Anybody Can Dance is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language dance drama film directed and choreographed by choreographer Remo D'Souza and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under UTV Spotboy Motion Pictures. The film stars Prabhu Deva in the lead role along with Ganesh Acharya and Kay Kay Menon. The participants in Dance India Dance appear in supporting roles. Along with the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions titled Aadalam Boys Chinnatha Dance and ABCD respectively, the film, made at a budget of between Rs 120 million and 420 million, was released worldwide in 3D on 8 February 2013 to mostly positive reviews from critics.

Heropanti is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language romantic action film directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film features newcomers Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, alongside Prakash Raj in a supporting role. It is a remake of Telugu film Parugu (2008) starring Allu Arjun and Sheela Kaur in leads, and was released on 23 May 2014. A sequel titled Heropanti 2 was released in 2022.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 is the seventh season of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. It premiered on 7 June 2014 on Colors. The series was hosted by Ranvir Shorey and Drashti Dhami but later got replaced by Manish Paul. Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Remo D'Souza were the three judges. The finale took place on 20 September 2014 and was won by Ashish Sharma and Shampa Gopikrishna.

Disney's ABCD 2, also known as Any Body Can Dance 2, is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language dance film directed and choreographed by Remo D'Souza and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under Walt Disney Pictures. A stand-alone sequel to the 2013 film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, the film stars Prabhu Deva, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles alongside Sushant Pujari, and is partially inspired by the life accounts of Suresh Mukund and Vernon Monteiro, played respectively by Dhawan and Pujari, founders of the "fictitious dance crew" The Kings, who went on to win the World Hip Hop Dance Championship in San Diego.
