The 66th Filmfare Awards ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honored the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2020.
Ludo led the ceremony with 16 nominations each, followed by Thappad with 15 nominations, and Gulabo Sitabo and Tanhaji with 13 nominations each.
Thappad won 7 awards, including Best Film and Best Actress (for Taapsee Pannu), thus becoming the most-awarded film at the ceremony.
Pankaj Tripathi received dual nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Ludo, but lost to Saif Ali Khan who the award for Tanhaji.
At age 88, Farrukh Jaffar set a record for becoming the oldest winner of an acting Filmfare Award, winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Gulabo Sitabo.
The ceremony was also noted as being the only to have two actors being nominated posthomously for the same award, with Irrfan Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput receiving Best Actor nominations for Angrezi Medium and Dil Bechara respectively, with Khan winning the award, thus becoming the only actor to win the Filmfare Best Actor award posthomously.

The Filmfare Award for Best Actor is an award, which is presented annually at the Filmfare Awards to an actor via a jury; it is given by Filmfare for Hindi (Bollywood) films. The award was first given in 1954. The most recent winner, as of 2024, is Ranbir Kapoor.
The IIFA Award for Best Actress is given by the International Indian Film Academy as part of its annual award ceremony for Hindi films, to recognise a female actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role. The recipient is chosen by viewers and the winner is announced at the ceremony. The current recipient is Alia Bhatt who took home her 4th award for Gangubai Kathiawadi making her the most awarded actress in this category.
Avik Mukhopadhyay is an Indian cinematographer who works in Bengali and Hindi films. He collaborated with eminent directors like Mrinal Sen, Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh, Srijit Mukherji, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Anik Dutta, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Shoojit Sircar and Sujoy Ghosh. Some of his most notable works include Chokher Bali, Patalghar, Bhalo Theko, Raincoat, Dosar, The Last Lear, Antaheen, Chitrangada: The Crowning Wish, October and Sardar Udham. He is the recipient of the National Film Award for Best Cinematography four times and the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer twice. He studied the cinematography at the Film and television Institute of India.
Tapasee Pannu, known as Taapsee Pannu, is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films. She has received two Filmfare Awards. After a brief modelling career, Pannu made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam and went on to act in the 2011 Tamil film Aadukalam. She made her Hindi film debut with David Dhawan's comedy Chashme Baddoor (2013). After playing the leading lady in several Telugu and Tamil films, Pannu gained notice for her performances in the Hindi spy thriller Baby (2015) and the courtroom drama Pink (2016), both of which were critical and commercial successes.

Shoojit Sircar is an Indian filmmaker, director and producer known for his work in Hindi films. He has received several awards, including two National Film Awards and one Filmfare Award from five nominations.
Juhi Chaturvedi is an Indian screenwriter who works in Hindi films. An advertising professional based in Mumbai, Chaturvedi has written scripts for Bollywood films such as Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015), October (2018) and Gulabo Sitabo (2020).
Kirti Kulhari is an Indian actress who works in Hindi-language films and series. She made her acting debut with the film Khichdi: The Movie in 2010 and then starred in Shaitan in 2011. She then appeared in the films Jal (2013), Pink (2016), Indu Sarkar (2017), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), and Mission Mangal (2019). Kulhari has starred in several web series, which includes Four More Shots Please! (2019–present), Criminal Justice (2020) and Human (2022).
Pankaj Tripathi born as Pankaj Tiwari, is an Indian actor, who predominantly works in Hindi films. He is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award. After studying acting at the National School of Drama, Tripathi had minor roles in such films as Omkara (2006), Raavan (2010) and Agneepath (2012), and had a supporting role in the television series Powder (2010).
Gajraj Rao is an Indian actor who appears predominantly in Hindi films. He is widely known for his performance in the comedy-drama film Badhaai Ho for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Sanya Malhotra is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films. She has had supporting roles in the sports film Dangal (2016) and the action film Jawan (2023), both of which rank among the highest-grossing Indian films. Her other commercially successful films were the comedy Badhaai Ho (2018) and the biopic Sam Bahadur (2023).
Angrezi Medium is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by Homi Adajania and produced under the production banner Maddock Films. A standalone sequel to the 2017 film Hindi Medium, the film stars Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal and Kareena Kapoor Khan in an extended special appearance. Filming began in Udaipur on 5 April 2019 and was completed by July in London. This was Irrfan's final film to be released before his death on 29 April 2020.
Gulabo Sitabo is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar, produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, and written by Juhi Chaturvedi. Set in Lucknow, it stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Abhinav Pundir and Farrukh Jaffar. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was not released theatrically, but on Amazon Prime Video worldwide on 12 June 2020.
Thappad (transl. Slap) is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed and co-written by Anubhav Sinha, starring Taapsee Pannu. The film released theatrically on 28 February 2020. This film received positive reviews from both critics and audience.
Maanvi Gagroo is an Indian actress who appears in Hindi films and television, She has worked in various web series like TVF Pitchers, TVF Tripling and Four More Shots Please!. At the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards, she won Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in the TVF Tripling Season 3.
Ludo is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language black comedy crime film written and directed by Anurag Basu. It stars an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Suresh Saraf, and Pearle Maaney. It was produced by T-Series Films, Anurag Basu Productions and Ishana Movies.
Farrukh Jaffar was an Indian actress and radio presenter in Bollywood. Having begun her career with Vividh Bharti in 1963, she made a transition into acting with a supporting role in the 1981 film Umrao Jaan. Jaffar continued to act sporadically, and beginning in the late 2010s, gained wider recognition for working in a spate of critically successful films. At the age of 88, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Fatima Begum in Gulabo Sitabo, becoming the oldest winner of an acting Filmfare.
Raghav Chaitanya is an Indian playback singer who got Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer at 66th Filmfare Awards for the song "Ek Tukda Dhoop" from Thappad. He is the youngest artist to win Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
