The 68th Filmfare Awards is a ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honored the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2022.
Gangubai Kathiawadi led the ceremony with 17 nominations, and won a leading 11 awards, including Best Film, Best Director (for Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and Best Actress (for Alia Bhatt).
Badhaai Do won 6 awards, including Best Film (Critics), Best Actor (for Rajkummar Rao), Best Actress (Critics) (for Bhumi Pednekar) and Best Supporting Actress (for Sheeba Chaddha), and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva won 5 awards, including Best Music Director (for Pritam), Best Lyricist (for Amitabh Bhattacharya) and Best Male Playback Singer (for Arijit Singh), the latter two for the song "Kesariya". Sheeba Chaddha received dual nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her performances in Badhaai Do and Doctor G , winning the award for the former.
Held at Jio World Centre, the 68th Filmfare Awards honored the films released in 2022. At a press conference helmed by editor of Filmfare magazine, Jitesh Pillai revealed Hyundai as the title sponsor. Actors Salman Khan and Ayushmann Khurana and Manish Paul were announced as the co-hosts, while actors Tiger Shroff, Vicky Kaushal, Kartik Aaryan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Govinda were announced to be performing during the event. It took place on 27 April 2023, and was broadcast on 28 April 2023 on Colors TV. [3]

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an Indian film director, film producer, screenwriter, editor and music composer, who works in Hindi cinema. He is the recipient of several awards, including seven National Film Awards and 12 Filmfare Awards, in addition to a nomination for a BAFTA Award. In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award. Bhansali is best known for his use of aesthetics and musical vision, particularly in period dramas.

Shantanu Maheshwari is an Indian actor, dancer, and choreographer. He gained fame for his debut role as Swayam Shekhawat in the popular youth television show Dil Dosti Dance. Shantanu's impressive dance skills earned him widespread recognition, leading to his victory in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8. He has also represented India internationally as part of the Desi Hoppers dance crew, winning the World of Dance Championship in Los Angeles. Badhaai Ho is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language comedy drama film directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Sharma, Aleya Sen and Hemant Bhandari under Chrome Pictures and Vineet Jain under Junglee Pictures. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Neena Gupta with Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri, Shardul Rana and Sanya Malhotra in supporting roles. The film tells the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant, much to the disappointment of their sons. Based on a script written by Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial and a story conceived by Jyoti Kapoor.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language biographical crime drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada. Based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by S. Hussain Zaidi, it tells the story of Gangubai Kathiawadi, a simple girl from Kathiawad who is forced into prostitution and later rises to become a madam and an influential figure in Bombay's red-light area. The film stars Alia Bhatt in the title role, alongside Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, Jim Sarbh and Ajay Devgn.
Badhaai Do is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. Produced by Junglee Pictures, it is a spiritual sequel to Badhaai Ho (2018). Depicting a couple in a lavender marriage, it stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar with Gulshan Devaiah, Chum Darang, Sheeba Chaddha and Seema Pahwa in supporting roles.
The 23rd International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the IIFA, was held on 26–27 May 2023, postponed from the original February date. The awards were once again held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The nominees were announced in December 2022. The ceremony was broadcast by Colors TV on 18 June.
Alia Bhatt is a British actress of Indian descent who predominantly works in Hindi films. As a child, she played a minor role in her father Mahesh Bhatt's production Sangharsh (1999), as the younger version of star Preity Zinta's character. In 2012, Bhatt had her first lead role in Karan Johar's teen film Student of the Year, but her performance in it was not well received. Two years later, she gained praise for playing a kidnapping victim in the drama Highway (2014), winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. In the same year, her starring roles in the commercially successful romances 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, both produced under Johar's studio Dharma Productions, established her as a leading actress. She also sang the single "Samjhawan Unplugged" for the latter film's soundtrack.
Kruti Mahesh Midya is an Indian dancer and choreographer known for her work in Hindi Cinema. She is a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song "Ghoomar" from Padmaavat (2018), together with Jyoti D.Tommar, and has received the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for "Dholida" from Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). Her best works are in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), ABCD 2 (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), A Flying Jatt (2016), Race 3 (2018), Street Dancer 3D (2019), Shyam Singha Roy (2021), and Maja Ma (2022). Terence Lewis has been her mentor since joining his team in Dance India Dance and has assisted Remo D'Souza along the way before becoming an independent choreographer.
Gangubai Kathiawadi (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2022 film of the same name, directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt in the titular role. The film was loosely based on the life of Indian sex worker and social activist Gangubai Kothewali and documented in the novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai, written by S. Hussain Zaidi. Besides directing, Bhansali also composed the film's soundtrack while the score was composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara. The lyrics for the songs were written by Kumaar, A. M. Turaz and Bhojak Ashok "Anjam". The album was released under the Saregama record label on 18 February 2022 with a simultaneous Telugu version which had lyrics written by Chaitanya Prasad.
