The 68th Filmfare Awards is a ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honored the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2022.
Gangubai Kathiawadi led the ceremony with 17 nominations, and won a leading 11 awards, including Best Film, Best Director (for Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and Best Actress (for Alia Bhatt).
Badhaai Do won six awards, including Best Film (Critics), Best Actor (for Rajkummar Rao), Best Actress (Critics) (for Bhumi Pednekar) and Best Supporting Actress (for Sheeba Chaddha), and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva won five awards, including Best Music Director (for Pritam), Best Lyricist (for Amitabh Bhattacharya) and Best Male Playback Singer (for Arijit Singh), the latter two for the song "Kesariya". Sheeba Chaddha received dual nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her performances in Badhaai Do and Doctor G , winning the award for the former.
Held at Jio World Centre, the 68th Filmfare Awards honored the films released in 2022. At a press conference helmed by editor of Filmfare magazine, Jitesh Pillai revealed Hyundai as the title sponsor. Actors Salman Khan and Ayushmann Khurana and Manish Paul were announced as the co-hosts, while actors Tiger Shroff, Vicky Kaushal, Kartik Aaryan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Govinda were announced to be performing during the event. It took place on 27 April 2023, and was broadcast on 28 April 2023 on Colors TV. [3]

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an Indian filmmaker and music composer, who is known for his work in Hindi films. He is the recipient of several awards, including seven National Film Awards and 12 Filmfare Awards, in addition to a nomination for a BAFTA Award. In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award.

Shantanu Maheshwari is an Indian actor, dancer, choreographer and host. He debuted with the show Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V in his breakthrough performance as the protagonist Swayam Shekhawat. In 2017, he participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 and emerged as the winner. He was also seen as a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 and Nach Baliye 9 and became a finalist in both.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language biographical crime drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada. The film stars Alia Bhatt in the title role, alongside Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, Jim Sarbh and Ajay Devgn.
Gangubai Harjeevandas, better known as Gangubai Kothewali or Gangubai Kathiawadi, was an Indian social activist, prostitute and madam of a brothel in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai during the 1960s. Gangubai worked for the rights of sex-workers and for the well-being of orphans. She gradually ended up operating her own brothel and is known to also have lobbied for the rights of commercial sex workers.
Mafia Queens of Mumbai: Stories of women from the ganglands is an Indian 2011 non-fiction crime novel written by Hussain Zaidi with original research by reporter Jane Borges. It tells 13 true stories of women who were involved in criminal activities in Mumbai. Rajkummar Rao, Radhika Apte and Kalki Koechlin provided their voice for its audio book for audible.
Badhaai Do is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language social comedy-drama film directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. Produced by Junglee Pictures, it is a spiritual sequel to Badhaai Ho (2018). Depicting a couple in a lavender marriage, it stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar with Gulshan Devaiah, Chum Darang, Sheeba Chaddha and Seema Pahwa in supporting roles.
Alia Bhatt is a British actress of Indian descent who predominantly works in Hindi films. As a child, she played a minor role in her father Mahesh Bhatt's production Sangharsh (1999), as the younger version of star Preity Zinta's character. In 2012, Bhatt had her first lead role in Karan Johar's teen film Student of the Year, but her performance in it was not well-received. Two years later, she gained praise for playing a kidnapping victim in the drama Highway (2014), winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. In the same year, her starring roles in the commercially successful romances 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, both produced under Johar's studio Dharma Productions, established her as a leading actress. She also sang the single "Samjhawan Unplugged" for the latter film's soundtrack.
Kruti Mahesh Midya is an Indian dancer and choreographer known for her work in Hindi Cinema. She is a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song "Ghoomar" from Padmaavat (2018), together with Jyoti D.Tommar, and has received the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for "Dholida from Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). Her best works are in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), ABCD 2 (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), A Flying Jatt (2016), Race 3 (2018), Street Dancer 3D (2019), Shyam Singha Roy (2021), and Maja Ma (2022). Terence Lewis has been her mentor since joining his team in Dance India Dance and has assisted Remo D'Souza along the way before becoming an independent choreographer.
