Rohena Gera, born in 1973, is an Indian director, screenwriter and producer.
Rohena Gera studied at Stanford University and Sarah Lawrence College. She works as a scriptwriter for Indian cinema. She also engages in non-profit campaigns to defend peace and equality. [1]
Gera was married to Rohan Sippy, who also went to Stanford and is now a screenwriter. They got divorced in 2003. [2]
In 2003, Rohena Gera made her screenwriting debut for the first season of the Indian comedy-drama television series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin on Sony Entertainment Television. [3]
In 2003 she independently produced the public service advertisements featuring 16 celebrities including Zakir Husain, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker, and M.F. Husain, all coming together to say "Stop the hatred" and to fight hate propaganda after the Gujarat riots.
In 2013, Rohena Gera wrote and directed her first documentary What's Love Got to Do with It? The film shows a funny representation of urban and privileged Indians who reconcile with expectations about love, marriage, happiness and tradition. [4] The story mixes the stories of eight unlikely candidates who are each in line for an arranged marriage, playing with the rules that often reinforce the status quo of class, caste and gender. The director takes an intimate look at the human quest for love and happiness, capturing social obligations or pressures within the Indian family. The documentary is selected at the Mumbai Film Festival. [5] [6]
Rohena Gera presented her film Sir (Monsieur) during the Cannes Film Festival 2018, in the selection of La Semaine de la Critique. [7] The story is about a servant, Ratna who is working in the luxurious house of Ashwin and dreams of independence. Ratna and Ashwin fall in love but Ratna breaks the relationship foreseeing it unacceptable to the society. [8] [9] [10] Two opposing worlds will have to live together. [11] The film is supported by the Gan Foundation for Cinema, whose Broadcast Award supports the first works of young filmmakers. [12]
Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin is an Indian soap opera which aired on Sony Entertainment Television from 1 September 2003 to 4 May 2006. The series was an Indian-themed version of the Colombian drama Yo soy Betty, la fea.

The Producers Guild Film Awards, previously known as the Apsara Awards, is an award event hosted by the Producers Guild of India to recognize excellence in Hindi film and television. Originated by filmmaker and scholar Amit Khanna in 2004, the Guild Awards were one of the major award events from 2004 till 2016, when the last awards ceremony happened. The 22-karat gold statuette was sculpted and designed by the jewellery brand Tanishq and was "inspired by the rich heritage of one of India's most treasured possessions – the Ajanta and Ellora Caves." Nominations for the awards come from selected members of the guild, with the full membership available to vote for the winners. The ballots cast by the guild members are then taken to a common venue for the final counting.

Shiladitya Bora is an Indian film producer, director, marketer and distributor. He is the founder of Platoon One Films, a Mumbai-based film production studio. Bora was born and brought up in Assam and completed his undergraduate and post-graduate studies in Ahmedabad. He started his film career by spearheading the indie release banner PVR Pictures' Directors' Rare, a limited release arm of India's biggest film exhibitor, PVR Cinemas group. Under this banner, he successfully released more than 85 independent films. In 2015, Bora was recognised for his work in marketing and distribution and was selected as one of the Berlinale Talents of the year. As the first CEO of Drishyam Films, Bora served as an Associate Producer on critically acclaimed films like Masaan (2015) and Newton (2017). He helped develop Newton from a one-line pitch to a story and greenlit the film to production. Newton went on to be selected as India's official entry for the 90th Academy Awards. In 2017, Bora founded Platoon One Films, a Mumbai based production studio with his wife and costume designer Shilpi Agarwal. Platoon One Films' maiden Hindi production Yours Truly, directed by Sanjoy Nag, starring Soni Razdan, Pankaj Tripathi and Aahana Kumra, premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2018 and travelled to many festivals worldwide. Platoon One Films then went on to produce the National Award-Winning Marathi film Picasso, directed by Abhijeet Warang and starring Prasad Oak. He is also the producer for 2023 Indian Marathi-language thriller drama, Ghaath which was nominated to compete for the Panorama Audience Award and GWFF Best First Feature Award at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.

Sir had an initial release at the Cannes Film Festival followed by theatrical release in European countries in 2018. The film was theatrically released in India on 13 November 2020.
