Raipur Metropolitan Region, also known as the Raipur Metropolitan Area and Greater Raipur, is the Urban Agglomeration of Raipur-Naya Raipur and some part of Durg Bhilai in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The area is administered by the Raipur Development Authority, Raipur Municipal Corporation and Nava Raipur Vikas Pradikaran. [1] [2] [3]
According to the 2011 census data, the total population of the Raipur metropolitan region was 2,343,334 that includes population of Raipur-Bhilai-Durg. Whose total urban area is 800.02 km2
Chhattisgarh is a landlocked state in Central India. It is the ninth largest state by area, and with a population of roughly 30 million, the seventeenth most populous. Kapsi is a large village and local marketplace in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh state in India. The village holds significance as a model village under two distinct schemes of the Government of India, namely the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and the National Rurban Mission. It is situated on Chhattisgarh State Highway 25 roughly 110 km (68 mi) south-west of the district headquarters Kanker and 10 km (6.2 mi) north-east of the tehsil headquarters Pakhanjur. Raipur-Bhilai-Durg Expressway is a 27-kilometre-long (17 mi) high-speed urban expressway which links Raipur- Bhilai and Durg on Asian Highway 46 (India) (AH-46) in the state of Chhattisgarh. The expressway also connects Chhattisgarh with Visakhapatnam, one of the most important ports of India. The expressway has two toll stations installed, one at Kharun - at the entry point of the expressway from Raipur and the other at Kutelabhata - at the exit point of the expressway towards Bhilai.

Durg–Raipur–Arang Expressway is a planned 92 km (57 mi) long, six-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. The expressway is a part of Bharatmala Pariyojana, and will pass from Durg through Anjora, Patora, Supkona, Abhanpur and Naya Raipur before terminating at Arang.
Raipur Central Jail is one of the 5 central Jails in Chhattisgarh. The total capacity of this jail is of 1100 people. However, it is reported that at any given time, there are more than double inmates than the capacity of the jail. Many inmates of this jail was granted bail when the Corona Virus pandemic has struck. Raipur Central Jail was constructed during British Raj and had several freedom fighters as inmates. In 2016, on Gandhi Jayanti (02-October), the inmates had launched a hungerstrike as Satyagrah, demanding minimum wages, bank accounts and improved living facilities. In 2019, one of the medical officers of Raipur Central Jail was accused of offering preferential treatment to richer inmates and ignoring those who were poor.
Raipur–Hyderabad Expressway, part of Raipur–Hyderabad Economic Corridor, is a planned greenfield, access-controlled, 530-kilometre (330 mi) long, six-lane expressway through Red corridor in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana states of central, West-central and South India Raipur - Hyderabad Expressway As per the current proposal by NHAI, this expressway will reach Hyderabad from Raipur via Durg, Rajnandgaon, Gadchiroli, Gondpipri, Ramagundam and Karimnagar. In this, a 104 km long expressway is to be built inside Chhattisgarh and 77 km in Maharashtra. A total road length of 181 km will be built by connecting Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The remaining 338 km of road will be built in Telangana.
