The Rashtriya Janata Dal is an Indian political party,mainly based in the state of Bihar. The party was founded in 1997 by Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Anirudh Prasad Yadav,better known as Sadhu Yadav,is an Indian politician and founder of Garib Janta Dal (Secular). He has served in 14th Lok Sabha as MP of Gopalganj from 2004 to 2009 as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate. Sadhu was MLA of Gopalganj assembly from 2000 to 2004.

He won the 1990 Bihar Legislative Assembly election as a candidate of Janata Dal from this constituency. Mehta was a socialist politician,who also served as a minister in Government of Bihar. He is the father of another Bihar politician and former General Secretary of Rashtriya Janata Dal,Alok Kumar Mehta. He was one of the founder of Rashtriya Janata Dal. Mehta had represented Jandaha Assembly constituency multiple times,winning the Assembly elections of 1962,1969,1985,1990 and 1995.
