Ramendra Jakhu is a former bureaucrat and politician from Haryana. He is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1979 batch [1] , belonging to Haryana cadre. [2]

Personal life

He was born into a Ravidassia family and originally hails from Punjab. He is married to Shakuntala Jakhu, a distinguished IAS officer of the 1978 batch who served as the Chief Secretary of Haryana. [3]

Professional life

Over more than three decades of administrative service in Haryana, he held senior posts, including Financial Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary for Transport & Civil Aviation and later Additional Chief Secretary for Forests & Wildlife. [4] After his retirement from active service, Jakhu continued his engagement in public life and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014, expressing admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive and developmental governance.
