James Randall Hunt (born January 3,1960) is a former Major League Baseball catcher.
Hunt was raised in Alabama by his parents,Harold and Thelma Hunt. [1] He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery,Alabama where he played several sports. According to the Montgomery Advertiser ,he "came mighty close to signing a football scholarship at Troy State" but chose instead to play college baseball at Chattahoochee Valley Junior College. At Chattahoochee,he was converted to catcher and,after two years,continued his college baseball career at Alabama. [2]
He was selected in the Major League Baseball draft after each of his three college seasons and finally signed with the St. Louis Cardinals,who selected him in 1981 after his first season at Alabama. [3] Hunt began to develop a drinking problem toward the end of the 1982 season but eventually won "a six-month bout with alcoholism" in 1983 after seeking help for himself,at which point he began advancing through the minor league system. In June 1985,following an injury to catcher Darrell Porter,Hunt was called up to the Cardinals. [3] On June 4,he recorded a hit in his first Major League at bat. [1]
He had three hits in 19 at-bats in a total of 14 games. He moved to the Montreal Expos in the 1986 season. Hunt played in 21 games in 1986,with ten hits in 48 at-bats.
In a two-season career,he had a batting average of .194,with two career home runs and six RBI.
Darrell Ray Porter was an American professional baseball catcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1971 to 1987 for the Milwaukee Brewers,Kansas City Royals,St. Louis Cardinals,and Texas Rangers. The four-time All-Star was known for his excellent defensive skills and power hitting ability. He struggled but was never able to overcome a substance abuse problem,yet went on to become the most valuable player of the 1982 World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals. Porter died from accidental drug toxicity in 2002 at the age of 50.
George Andrew Hendrick Jr. is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder between 1971 and 1988,most prominently as an integral member of the St. Louis Cardinals team that won the 1982 World Series.

William Joseph Haselman is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 13 seasons between 1990 and 2003. A first-round selection in the 1987 MLB draft,he played for the Texas Rangers,Seattle Mariners,Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. He later was the bullpen coach and first base coach for the Red Sox,and currently is the third base coach for the Los Angeles Angels. He has also served as a manager in Minor League Baseball.
Richard Allen Dietz was an American professional baseball player and manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher from 1966 to 1973,most prominently as a member of the San Francisco Giants where he was an All-Star player and was a member of the team that won the 1971 National League Western Division title. He also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves. After his playing career,Dietz worked as a minor league manager in the Giants organization.
