S. Carey described the nine tracks found on his latest LP as being inspired by California and Arizona, where he would spend summers as a kid visiting family, hiking, camping, fishing, and engaging in other outdoorsy activities. In turn, the proper follow-up to 2010’s All We Grow (S. Carey dropped an EP, dubbed Hoyas, in 2012) was released April 1, 2014, in time for hiking season to kick off. [5]
The album received generally positive reviews, pointing out Carey's attention to detail with his voice and background textures. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 69 out of 100, which indicates "generally favorable reviews" based on seventeen reviews. Timothy Monger of All Music describes the 2014 LP as him channeling his admiration of John Muir digging deep into California's Sierra mountain range, approaching this project as more of a composer than a songwriter. Mariah Carey is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released on June 12, 1990, by Columbia Records. Its music incorporates a range of contemporary genres with a mix of slow ballads and up-tempo tracks. Originally, Carey wrote four songs with Ben Margulies, which solely constituted her demo tape. 10,000 Days is the fourth studio album by American rock band Tool. The album was released by Tool Dissectional and Volcano Entertainment on April 28, 2006 in parts of Europe, April 29, 2006 in Australia, May 1, 2006 in the United Kingdom, and on May 2, 2006 in North America. Recording took place at O'Henry Sound Studios in Burbank, California, The Loft, and Grandmaster Studios. It marked the first time since recording 1993's Undertow that the band had worked at Grandmaster and without producer David Bottrill. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is the twelfth studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on September 29, 2009, by Island Records. After promotion for her previous album, E=MC² (2008) ended, Carey began to work on a new album, producing songs with Terius "The-Dream" Nash and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, and revealed the album's title through Twitter. Carey said that Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel would have "big ballads", and that "each song is its own snapshot of a moment in a story".
