Ratnottama Sengupta (born January 27, 1955) is the daughter of scriptwriter Nabendu Ghosh, [1] and is a film journalist, festival curator/organiser, [2] and author. [3] She is a recipient of the National Film Award, and has served on several international film juries. [4]

Nabendu Ghosh was an Indian author in Bengali literature, and screenwriter. He has written screenplays of classic Bollywood movies like, Sujata, Bandini, Devdas, Majhli Didi, Abhimaan and Teesri Kasam. He has written stories for movies like Baap Beti, Shatranj, Raja Jani. He has also acted briefly in Do Bigha Zameen, Teesri Kasam and Lukochuri. Later in his career, he directed four movies as well.

Kautik International Student Film Festival film festival

Kautik International Student Film Festival is a 10-day competitive international student film festival,organised by CEFM-the Hermitage, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand, in association with the Himalayan Society for Art, Culture, Education, Environment and Film Development (HIMACEEF) promoted by filmmakers/academicians Rajesh Shah and National Award winning docu filmmaker Shalini Shah. The duo are film faculty members at the University. In addition to students and film buffs from all over India, the festival is attended by the who's who of this scenic hill station: theatre artistes, cinematographers, filmmakers, and state and union ministers.

Bimal Roy Indian film director

Bimal Roy was a Bengali Indian film director. He is particularly noted for his realistic and socialistic films such as Do Bigha Zamin, Parineeta, Biraj Bahu, Madhumati, Sujata, Parakh and Bandini, making him an important director of Hindi cinema. Inspired by Italian neo-realistic cinema, he made Do Bigha Zamin after watching Vittorio De Sica's Bicycle Thieves (1948). His work is particularly known for his mise en scène which he employed to portray realism. He won a number of awards throughout his career, including eleven Filmfare Awards, two National Film Awards, and the International Prize of the Cannes Film Festival. Madhumati won 9 Filmfare Awards in 1958, a record held for 37 years.

Aparna Sen

Aparna Sen is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and actress who is known for her work in Bengali cinema. A leading actress of the late 1960s and 1970s she has received eight BFJA Awards, five for best actress, two for best supporting actress and one for lifetime achievement. She is the winner of nine National Film Awards and nine international film festival awards for her direction in films. She was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, by the government of India in 1987.

Teesri Kasam is a 1966 Hindi language drama film directed by Basu Bhattacharya. It is based on the short story Mare Gaye Gulfam, by the Hindi novelist Phanishwarnath Renu. The film stars Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman. The duo Shankar-Jaikishan composed the film's score. The film's cinematography is by Subrata Mitra. Dialogues are by Phanishwarnath Renu and the screenplay by Nabendu Ghosh.
