Until 1 January 2007 Ravnsborg was a municipality (Danish, kommune ) on the northwest coast of the island of Lolland in the former Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality, including the islands of Fejø and Femø, covered an area of 198 km², and had a total population of 5,569 (2005). Its last mayor was Stig Vestergård, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Horslunde.
Ferry service connects the former municipality to Langeland from a harbour west of the town of Sandby, and to the islands of Fejø and Femø from the town of Kragenæs.
Ravnsborg municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with existing Holeby, Højreby, Maribo, Nakskov, Rudbjerg and Rødby municipalities to form the new Lolland Municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 892 km² and a total population of 49,469 (2005). The new municipality belongs to Region Zealand ("Region Sjælland").
Until January 1, 2007 Thyborøn-Harboøre was a municipality in the former Ringkjøbing County on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 42 km², and had a total population of 4,690 (2005). Its last mayor was Erik Flyvholm.

Nykøbing Falster is a southern Danish city, seat of the Guldborgsund kommune. It belongs to Region Sjælland. The city lies on Falster, connected by the 295-meter-long Frederick IX Bridge over the Guldborgsund waterway to the island of Lolland. The town has a population of 16,911. Including the satellite town Sundby on the Lolland side, with a population of 3,065 the total population is 19,976.
Nakskov is a town in south Denmark. It is situated in Lolland municipality in Region Sjælland on the western coast of the island of Lolland. The town has a population of 12,495. To the west is Nakskov Fjord, an inlet from the Langeland Belt (Langelandsbælt) that runs between the islands of Lolland and Langeland. Nakskov Fjord is a wildlife reserve, known for its bird life.

Fejø is a Danish island north of Lolland. It covers an area of 16 km2 (6.2 sq mi) and has 611 permanent inhabitants. Its population expands in Summer since many Danes have summerhouses and there is an influx of other tourists. Fejø has two villages: Vesterby and Østerby, connected by a single main road. Fejø has two main harbors, Vesterbyhavn and Dybvighavn. The island has a cafe, restaurant, shop, retirement home, church, primary school, mill, and a resident doctor. It has a windmill which was restored and started grinding corn for the first time in decades in June 2013.
Askø is a Danish island north of Lolland. It covers an area of 2.82 km2 and has 55 permanent inhabitants as well as hundreds of summer vacation properties. It is connected to the neighbouring island of Lilleø by a 700 metre long dam, which was constructed in 1914. Askø is connected to Bandholm on Lolland by ferry.
Omø is a Danish island in the Great Belt. The island covers an area of 4.52 km2 (1.75 sq mi), with a 12-kilometre (7-mile) coastline, and has 168 inhabitants, of which the majority inhabit Omø village, which has a church, and Kirkehavn, a small harbour with a ferry boat berth, along with a newly built marina, made for the purpose of promoting fishery, which, along with agriculture, conforms the island's main economic activity. Some of the island's natural features are its lake and its bog; also, it is characterized for its varied bird life.
Guldborgsund is a municipality in Region Sjælland in Denmark, created on 1 January 2007 from six (6) former municipalities on the two islands Lolland in the west and Falster in the east bordering the Guldborgsund strait. It covers an area of 903.15 km² (2013) and has a total population of 61,219. Its neighboring municipalities are Lolland to the west and Vordingborg to the north. Its administrative seat is in the town of Nykøbing Falster. Its mayor as of 1 January 2022 is Simon Hansen, representing the Social Democrats.

Vesthimmerland Municipality or Vesthimmerlandøs Municipality is a municipality in the North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 768,08 km² (2013) and has a total population of 38,277 inhabitants (2008). The Municipality borders Jammerbugt Municipality to the south and to the east it borders Rebild and Aalborg Municipality and to the south it borders Viborg Municipality and to the south-east it borders Mariagerfjord Municipality.
Lolland is the fourth largest island of Denmark, with an area of 1,243 km2 (480 sq mi). Located in the Baltic Sea, it is part of Region Sjælland. As of 1 January 2022, it has 57,618 inhabitants.
Sydhavsøerne, sometimes also referred to simply as Lolland-Falster from the two largest islands, is an informal but common term used in Danish to refer to the archipelago just south of Zealand, Denmark's largest island where its capital Copenhagen is located. Part of the Baltic Sea, the term covers Lolland, Falster and Møn as well as the numerous smaller islands of the surrounding straits, fjords and waters.
